Pockets of Hope

Pockets of Hope is a narrative management game set in the unforgiving city of Veronka, where survival is earned one desperate choice at a time. You play as a young orphan, newly arrived with your sick younger brother — vulnerable, weak, and in need of constant care. With no home, no allies, and no promises, you must scrape together what’s needed to stay alive… and chase the distant hope of a cure.Every day is a test. You’ll roam the streets, deciding how to spend your limited energy: searching for scraps, picking pockets, pleading for coins, or speaking to locals who might offer help — for a price. From ruthless vendors to suspicious strangers, everyone in Veronka is looking out for themselves, and you're just one more soul trying to make it through.

A City That Changes Without Warning

The world moves whether you’re ready or not. Newspaper headlines hint at growing tension — police crackdowns, area closures, economic shifts — all of which ripple through the streets and change how you survive. Veronka doesn’t pause for anyone. It reacts, it closes in, and it never looks back.

Unpredictable Events, Relentless Pressure

Along your journey, you’ll face moments that demand a response — or offer none. These event encounters can reward, punish, or simply remind you that in this city, not everything is under your control. Whether you act or look away, consequences will follow.

Every Night Is a Reckoning

When the day ends, choices must be made. How do you divide what little you’ve gathered? Will your brother eat tonight — or will you? Can you risk another day without medicine? Can you hold off the cold with one less coin in your pocket? Survival means sacrifice — and some sacrifices leave a mark.

Navigate a Fragmented World

Veronka is split into districts, each with its own rhythm, economy, and inhabitants. Some places are welcoming. Others are closed off until you've proven you belong. What you do in one area may shape the opportunities — or dangers — waiting in the next. Carefully explore, adapt, and climb your way through a city that doesn’t want you to rise.

No One Will Save You — But You Can Save Him

Everyone you meet is out for themselves. Compassion is rare. Trust is risky. But even in this broken world, your bond with your brother remains unshaken. He’s the reason you get up each day. He’s the reason you fight. And somewhere beyond the city’s walls, a cure might still exist. Will you find it — or be swallowed by the world that forgot you?
