Players praise Primarch as a well-designed autobattler roguelike with satisfying synergy-based gameplay and impressive depth from a solo developer, though many note it has a steep learning curve due to UI clarity issues and overwhelming tooltips early on. The game offers solid content at its current price point, but players want more enemy variety, difficulty scaling, and randomized events to increase replayability and prevent combat from feeling repetitive. Most agree the core mechanics are strong and the game shows great potential, though some UI improvements and additional content would hel
Dude what made this game really understands Auto-Battlers and how to do them. Each battle is a lesson in what is working and what isn't. Defeat isn't usually the end and you can fix your weaknesses and take a run from losing to winning. That's cool. The game concept itself is unique and well-executed. You are a single hero with abilities that do different things like generate mana, charge opponents, shield, and spend mana. You order the abilities however you'd like. It has a real FF12 gambit feel. It's awesome. Very early access, balance is poor, there needs to be far more content, more enemies, more trinkets, more skills, QoL features, real controller support etc etc etc. But it's already very fun and delight on the Steam Deck.1 found this helpful
Auto Battler, RogueLike, Crazy Synergies to Min-Max. Primarch is a perfect example of a small Dev (1 man team) that cares about what he pushes out and community feedback. It is the PERFECT game if you want to chill and do a few runs, short on time or want to absolute crush an all nighter. Give it a GO you will not be disappointed.1 found this helpful
I had been looking forward to this game since I was a fan of the other one that the dev had made and it had been advertised to me leading up to its launch, but i only played a few minutes and refunded my purchase. I didn't feel like it had the same charm or engaging decisions that the other had. There seems to be a lot of different mechanics working against each other in odd ones, and it didn't have the feeling of a game that would become fun if I put the time into learning how to play it. I feel mixed about this since the developer makes niche games which are normally up my alley. But the payoff wasn't clear, the combat in the other game felt much higher stakes. I can't quite describe it but I didnt' find this one as fun.
I mean... its not a bad game. But for a roguelight there is barely any content - 3 almost identical hero and few relics to choose from. Not many interesting skills either. Can it be a good game? Maybe. But its need much more content. I played like 7 hours, beat half of corruptions levels, and i already seen everything. No replayability at all at the current state. As Astronarch fan, i didnt like it as much, as i liked developer first game. 5/10 at most for now. Positive moments - good pixel art, potentialy good mechanics.
This is my fave release of the year so far. An autobattler with the right level of complexity. The various systems and multi-dimensional combat space make for a lot of fun interactions. Definitely got my moneys worth in the current state but would love to see more content because the potential for replayability is just about there. Just needs more randomness forced into each run, and more difficulty. More characters, skills, enemies, items etc wouldn't hurt either.
An interesting roguelike from the creator of *Astronarchs*. The mechanics are numerous and often unique, and they come together seamlessly into a cohesive system. The game is still a bit rough around the edges, but it’s improving rapidly. I recommend that fans of roguelike auto-battlers pick up this potential masterpiece now, before it’s released at full price. Fights are fun, but can feel a bit repetative for now, so it will be nice to mix combat with some random ivents or something.
