PUMP IT UP RISE

HEY! IS THIS REALLY YOUR BEST? I won't sugarcoat it, these new songs suck horse's balls. I really regret having bought those Rise Vol.2 and Phoenix 2024 DLCs. 90% of those songs sound the same. Either happy hardcore, high-speed techno, or EDM. The quality of the song list in PIU has been taking a nosedive ever since XX, with the influx of BMS songs and composers. Adrenaline Blaster, Lepton Strike, 4NT, Burn Out, E.O.N, Highway Chaser, Lohxia, Megaheartz, Sonic Boom, Sudden Appearance Image, Ultimate Eyes, MYTH Re:Lease, Crash-Landing Rendezvous, Behind the Scenes, The Last Stand, The Deconstruction, Yellow Dot, Lethal Spade, Kraken. They're nearly indistinguishable from each other. Not only that, but their BGAs are also nearly identical to boot. We are seeing here a case of songs that have the sole purpose of providing challenging charts, and nothing else. The same problem that EZ2ON Reboot and Sixtar Gate show in spades. All of them are variations of "How to make Otoge music" without the self-awareness. Songs that are made to serve the charts, instead of the other way around. They all feel disposable. Otogeslop. When they announced that PIU was coming to Steam, I didn't expect it to be such a great PC adaptation. Now that I've played it for a solid amount of time, I can say that it's fun, it feels fresh, and the new soundtrack is really amazing! It's great for experienced Pump players, while also being interesting and accessible to rhythm game players who are new to the series. Pump It Up RISE deserves all the support it can get. I really hope it keeps growing and stays around for many years. Highly recommended, whether you're a longtime Pump player or just a fan of rhythm games.

I started playing DDR around 2004. I had Pump and a pad on PS2 back in the day but didn't play it much. Stepmania was my main focus back then. ITG changed the difficulty spectrum a year later. I got up to clearing 12's on ITG (Max was 13) I'm currently kicking myself in the @$$ for not playing more Pump back in the day. This game is fantastic. Songs are great, charts are great, modifiers are great. Gonna have to grind this one for sure

Great presentation, nice music selection with some old school stuff, it's perfect for someone like me who never learned 5K, it got me into it. As mentionned by others, even if charts have been adapted to keyboard, they're still heavily based on dance pads, but that can actually be a good thing if you're someone who wants to find a good game to learn 5K or 6K. It won't teach you more advanced patterns that you might see in games like DJMAX, but I feel like it's a great introduction. Pad charts can be really fun too with the way it makes your alternate your hands and teach you some good stuff. Gimmick charts in this game are also really cool. Challenge and division modes are great at pushing you to your limits and it really helped me learn 5K fast. I have one criticism, it's the lack of early/late indication, during the game play and after playing a song, as the auto calibration in the options is not great. Took me a while to figure out my offset before I was able to pull out full perfects.

Good for PIU fans. Song selection is nostalgic, especially when paired with a soft mat. However, I do not recommend this game for new players/casuals. With this price, newplayers/casuals are better off with stepmania/outfox instead.

I thought the price was quite high at first. but now I am considering to buy a custom controller for this. The Arcade Mode alone gives OG gamers a reason to buy it. I even thought the "Double" was only for 6-key setups before I bought it, but it turns out it supports both 6-key and 10-key. It is definitely worth it.
