Super fun and has great potential. The mouse mechanics and hit timing feel balanced, the difficulty progression isn't great but hopefully that gets better when more songs are added. Multi-lane notes are not my favourite but I can get over it, the vfx aren't too distracting which is very nice, can't wait for future updates.

If you like Spin Rhythm and a 4/6 key like DDR with the look of Chunithm you're very likely going to love this. Positives: - It's free - Classic Rhythm game artists already present (t+pazolite for example) - Track customization of not just length but also angle. Also all of the accessibility type settings of reducing camera shake and ability to change background visibility levels (blur, opacity in particular) - Unique combination of mechanics Cons (understanding these may change as the game is still under development!): - Needs a difficulty between intermediate and expert - specifically I think introducing the 6 key gameplay without any mouse switching or the same mechanics but way less notes. - I personally hate ambiguous notes that leave it up to the player to decide which key to hit/direction to flick in a game where notes with that specificity do exist (ie there are left and right specific flicks, 6 keys of notes, so why the any direction flick and multi-lane pick-whichever notes?). RhythmStrike is a rhythm game that caught my attention because it does more than just ask me to press buttons in time. It combines keyboard inputs with mouse movement, so I have to keep track of notes while also following the rhythm from side to side. I liked that extra layer because it makes the game feel much more active than a traditional keyboard rhythm game. The core gameplay is built around vertical scrolling charts, with easier patterns gradually leading into much more demanding combinations. The standard keyboard sections are already enjoyable, but the hybrid sections that mix several keys with mouse movement are where the game really starts to stand out. I liked the challenge of having to think about two different kinds of input at once without losing the rhythm. The Mission Mode gives the game some welcome structure. Instead of simply playing songs for a score, I get challenges that can require surviving with limited misses, reaching combo goals or maintaining strong accuracy. This is a positive review with a caveat, please read. I really REALLY REALLY want to love this game. As it is, and yes, I'm aware of how low my hours are, I really do like it. It's a great rhythm game with unique controls, but the constant flashing effects are absolutely killing my eyes. Even in games like WACCA, Chunithm, and Beat Voltex I have the option to turn off or remove a lot of the effects. I really wish that there was an option to turn off the effects. one called "Pure mode" or something similar to where I could just pay attention to the music and the beatmaps. I should state that I did turn off particle effects, blacked out the background, removed the background videos, and the flashing and beatmap effects are still too much to completely focus on the game. Honestly, I really hope this game succeeds. Right now though, due to the flashing, the blurring, stuff like that, it's not really for me. I wish the dev the best of luck and will absolutely be watching for updates and will try it regularly during the updates. I'm grateful that I'm not a photosensitive epileptic, because this would have put me in a seizure for sure if I was.
