"Queen of Seas 2" is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This Brazilian diving themed platformer has a lightweight "adventure game" frontend as you move around various Brazilian coastal scenes, then put on a diving suit and do some really, really bad platforming. Like, Cuphead/Super Meat Boy, Hollow Knight, this is very very far from. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls and game handling are notably very floaty and imprecise. The negative section looks a lot bigger but it's not too bad, I promise. This game is a cute and short little experience that's definitely worth its price tag. [h3]Positives[/h3] Visually, it's generally good looking. Despite its gameplay being (effectively) entirely underwater platforming, it somehow avoids feeling like complete poopoo. It is still inherently hindered by the sluggish water movement and it feels a bit weird at first, but you do get used to it fast and it ends up being enjoyable to control. [h3]Negatives[/h3] The most important issue that the game has, in my opinion, is that the Crab King suit is completely pointless. I initially played through the entire game with the Manta Ray suit with no intention to replay it with the other one, but I decided to give it a shot when I noticed you got an achievement for maxing your suit upgrades. When I tried that, I immediately noticed the hampered mobility, which is of course the inherent idea of that suit: a tradeoff of mobility for durability.
