Planet of Lana

Take this with a grain of salt because I barely played the game. It's gorgeous. The atmosphere is great. Artistically, they did a splendid job. Perhaps it would have made a fantastic animated series. But it's not an enjoyable game for me. The controls are clunky, unresponsive, and unreliable. I understand they intentionally went with a more "realistic" and "weighty" feel for the main character, but it's just not fun. It's frustrating. Lana sometimes does the opposite of what you tell her to do near ledges, which can result in death. This game reminds me of Shigeru Miyamoto's philosophy on game feel and responsiveness, but only because it does the opposite. This game is clearly the kind of game where you will spend a great deal of time moving the character around, sometimes without much to do in the process beyond appreciating the beautiful world. But moving doesn't feel good in this game. Lana sometimes feels like she has a mind of her own and ignores your inputs, making it difficult to feel like you are that character. Which makes me not care about the character. Or the game. Maybe it gets better over time. But games don't get hours and hours to demonstrate that they get the b…

I really liked this game! Followed the creators instagram before the release cause it’s always fun seeing someone from my country creating something! I forgot about it until I saw it on steam recommendations! The puzzles were fun to figure out and I really liked the story, even teared up a little at the end🥹
