Rampallians

While suffering from some of the standard early access issues, the game has some very promising mechanics, and for a new card game it is quite well balanced. Sadly, the game seems to currently have a low player base, so finding games is a slow process. The gameplay with the bot is inconsistent, so while learning the game I would recommend getting a friend to learn with you if possible. This game has a lot of potential, and is well worth learning. Looking forward to seeing what updates are in store.

This is a great take on electronic 1v1 card games, with some cool mechanics. Think Magic but with worker allocation and an automatic combat system (once you choose defenders). It is definitely buggy in its current form, I've had a few freezes where the AI doesn't move and I have to start a new game. The actual gameflow and balance doesn't fall nearly as hard into a snowballing issue than I worried it might. That is my main fear going forward, that I suspect snowballing from turn 1 will be a key balance challange that may be difficult to completely avoid.

Rampallians has an interesting idea behind it, mixing card gameplay with board-game-style resource control and attacking the opponent’s field. The tutorial was reasonably clear, so I genuinely wanted to give it a fair chance. Unfortunately, the game crashed several times, I could not find a single online opponent, and the bot matches felt completely unrewarding. There is no meaningful progression, challenge structure, or reason to keep playing against the AI. Even the option to watch bots fight each other is not especially useful because you cannot properly see or learn from the full board. I understand that this is Early Access and some rough edges are expected, but the basic gameplay still needs to feel playable, testable, and worth returning to. After around an hour, Rampallians felt too incomplete even by Early Access standards. The concept may eventually become something enjoyable, especially with better bot matches, clearer progression and an active player base. Right now, however, I cannot recommend it at its current price.
