About Redhot Rabbit

Redhot Rabbit is a hand drawn, monochrome, 2D platformer with a rich visual style rooted in the silent movie era.
WASD, spacebar, and Enter keys control running, jumping, attacking from above, and throwing exploding projectiles. Time is a factor so for the highest possible score make your run a fast one. If you don't die much, a run might take about an hour and produce a decent score if it was a good one. Speed running the game will produce a decent score too due to the time bonus. The highest scores can only be achieved through the player's choice of a balance between the two. You'll have to choose what to speed run past and what to play through for points/health. You'll need health. Some bosses you might get past without a drawn out fight. Some you'll have no choice but to fully engage.
Soundtrack features some of the greatest foxtrot and dancehall jazz hits of the late teens and early 1920s. Composers and ensembles include Irving Berlin and the Original Dixieland Jazz Band.

DEV'S NOTE 9/24/22: We have one report that the game wouldn't play on the Steam Deck. We also have one report that it DOES play well on your Steam Deck. TreeofEmber says, "It runs and looks excellent on the Steam Deck. The controls need to be configured to work. I went with: A as jump, B as slam on the ground, R2 as shoot carrots, and right analog stick as left / right."
God Mode
In Redhot Rabbit you’ll fight through countless enemies on a side -scrolling plane by either stomping (jumping on them) or shooting carrots at them. Collect Hearts for lives (which are abundant) so you won’t die so easily and collect carrots for ammo. As the game progresses, your jumps will increase in height which will make it easier to jump across far off ledges and higher platforms. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2850192449
Which Way Is Up?
Gameplay-wise that’s just about it and is simple to understand without much instructions and there is a sparse of it in here. Which makes knowing what to do a little confusing at certain times, notably the Tunnel area where there’s a cycle of cars driving towards you almost nonstop. Took me a little…

Pros: -Graphics -Variety of enemies -Low price -20's music Cons: -Character feels sluggish when jumping or shooting. -Sometimes you don't understand what is happening on screen. -Inconsistent life and ammo (carrots) system. Personally I got close to what I think, was the end, but I ran out of carrots so I couldn't beat one of the bosses, leaves me with a bittersweet taste, positive considering the price.

A fun and very thematic game that gets straight to the point. It's a one-shot platformer where the pace and difficulty ramp up towards the end. It is a little difficult to tell which way to go in a couple of places but that's the only gripe, particularly for the low cost.

It could be interesting with more polish and tuning of the gameplay, right now it's way too messy and floaty

Redhot Rabbit is an excellent little platformer for only $1. The controls are simple and easy to understand: jump, go left and right, slam on the ground, and shoot at the enemy. You can also configure it to work with a controller and Steam Deck. It runs and looks excellent on the Steam Deck. The controls need to be configured to work. You can pick how you want it set up, but I went with: A as jump, B as slam on the ground, R2 as shoot carrots, and the right analog stick as left and right. A is left, and D is Right. As you go through the game, you collect hearts and carrots. Hearts give you more life, and carrots let you shoot more enemies. I initially forgot I could shoot enemies, but I found hitting the enemy's head fun. I would recommend trying to do a run with only hitting the enemy's head. I really like the art style of the game. The music and old-school video effect are great. It really looks and feels like an old-school silent animated cartoon. If you plan to make a video on this game, know there is some copyrighted music in the game. The game crashed when I played it on the PC found in the video below; I do not know why. The hitboxes need some work. Overall, I had fun…
