ZILFINS — Mighty wizards who established in the town of Batiniq an enchanted realm of peace and prosperity. Their crowning achievement was the creation of two rings which, worn together, endowed the wearer with supernatural power.
LORD DRAGOS — A fiendish necromancer who now holds Batiniq in thrall. Captor of one magic ring, Dragos needs only its mate to attain invincibility.
The sole hope for thwarting this evil is... you.
Possessing innate magical ability, you set forth on a perilous quest to find and reunite the legendary rings and depose the dark overlord.
Your wondrous journey unfolds in The Rings of Zilfin, a fantasy game whose revolutionary for 1980s graphics added an unprecedented realism to the action you direct. The fully animated scrolling screen grants you step-by-step control as you journey through the dangerous expanses of Batiniq. A host of characters, including elves, dragons, kings and sorceresses, might provide helpful clues. But the tyrant's monstrous minions, such as flying skulls, shape-shifters, goblin monks, and death ray demons, threaten constant attack. Destroy them with arrows or swords of the protective properties of special plants.
But your best weapon comes from developing your latent powers until you attain the status of Grand Master Wizard and can weave potent spells.
Time grows short. Hasten to seek the fabled Zilfins and their incomparable Rings of Power. Then wield them well.

Rings of Zilfin is the kind of classic computer role-playing game that immediately transports players back to a period when developers were still discovering what RPGs could truly become. Developed by Strategic Simulations and brought back to modern storefronts by SNEG, the game represents an era where imagination often mattered more than technical power. Long before open-world fantasy adventures became standard, Rings of Zilfin attempted to create a living magical world filled with danger, secrets, exploration, and mystery. Even though it is undeniably dated by modern standards, there is something captivating about revisiting a title that tried to combine storytelling, exploration, role-playing progression, and adventure game logic into a single experience during the infancy of the genre. The game follows the journey of a young apprentice wizard who becomes entangled in a quest involving the legendary Rings of Zilfin and the rise of the dark necromancer Lord Dragos. At first glance, the story appears straightforward and heavily inspired by traditional fantasy literature, but what makes the adventure memorable is the atmosphere surrounding the narrative. This is really cool, but you definitely need a manual (which Steam does not offer) or a guide (which you also can't find on Steam, as of yet). It's a game that I need to explore more - I like it quite a bit and it's classic CRPG vibes are strong.1 found this helpful
