How to play Daggerfall Unity on Steam: - Download the Daggerfall Unity folder relevant for your OS from the provided link. (Github version recommended) - Place the folder where your Steam version is located. - Rename the DOSBox-0.74 folder to something else. - Rename the Daggerfall Unity folder to 'DOSBox-0.74' - Rename the Daggerfall Unity exe to 'DOSbox' - Rename the 'DaggerfallUnity_data' folder within Daggerfall Unity to 'DOSBox_data' - Launch Daggerfall through Steam. Downloading mods such as D.R.E.A.M and Enhanced Sky is highly recommended. I also favor the Tedious Travels mod. You get to choose between sped-up autowalk or instant teleportation when you fast travel. Download the mods to your "Steam\steamapps\common\The Elder Scrolls Daggerfall\DOSBox-0.74\DOSBox_data\StreamingAssets\Mods" folder. You know how Morrowind Purists feel that Oblivion and Skyrim dumbed down the series, and tried to boil down the series into a Simpler, easier to digest RPG? This game is fantastic (though I would heavily recommend DFUnity). While the main open world of the game is empty (as it is HUGE), I personally didn't hate the emptiness of it, I think while too much can be destructive, not having some collectible or thing to do in every corner helped me just do what I wanted to do (which was to kill and pillage all of Wayrest). There is also a lot of really cool and interesting mechanics that this game has for example spell crafting, which has a pretty open layout to allow players to make whatever the hell they want, potion crafting, home ownership, owning a ship, joining guilds etc. HOWEVER many of these features felt unfinished, repetitive, or lack much meaning. While many mods fix these parts of the game these are still worth pointing out, as it does take away from the game. Overall if you are willing to handle some of this games issues, I think that it is definitely worth playing. (AGAIN PLEASE JUST DOWNLOAD THE UNITY VERSION, DOS BOX IS TERRIBLE)

This game is really good. Daggerfall was my first ever TES game that I have played to completion, as the only other one being Arena. The main story is a little odd at times with the time-gated quests which put a lot of stress artificially into the game, but the story is pretty good, so it gets a pass. I really liked the gameplay of Daggerfall. It is super free-form and just allows you to do whatever the hell you want to do. The leveling up was kinda weird at first but made sense after looking at the wiki on how it works (Im used to getting exp from enemies, instead of leveling skills that then give me exp). Combat is pretty self explanatory, however the enchanted items really makes things interesting and fun, like finding a healing gem (which is super op) or a bracelet that has mage unlock (also super op), that allows you to explore the games dynamic systems. Overall this game is very old (I think it adds to the charm), but surprisingly good. If you've ever played a CRPG before(like ADOM, System Shock, Angband or newer games like Barony), this game will feel amazing to play and is one of my favorites to play.
