Rover Builder

The concept is AWESOME! however I can not express how frustrating it is to change a control setting, save, then go back in to have it do whatever the frak it wants. I spent 1 hour fighting to get the controls to just stay the way I set them, tested them, saved them... to enter level 1 and have !NOTHING! I set up match anything in game. I'll come back to this later. After some updates. If I hadn't spent only a dollar I'd be very pissed!

Rover Builder is a physics-based construction sandbox built around a simple but surprisingly engaging idea: create your own vehicle, send it into challenging terrain, and discover whether your engineering choices actually work. Developed by Hatfuls Games and published by PQube, it places experimentation ahead of storytelling and gives players considerable freedom to solve problems using machines of their own design. Instead of selecting from a garage filled with finished vehicles, you are responsible for putting together the contraption that will carry you through each challenge. The building system is the main attraction. Frames, wheels, suspension components, steering mechanisms, hydraulics, propulsion systems, and other mechanical parts can be assembled into everything from sensible four-wheeled rovers to bizarre machines that look as though they should collapse immediately. The game rarely demands one specific solution, so creativity becomes part of the challenge. A compact rover may handle one mission perfectly, while another situation might encourage a longer vehicle, a crane-equipped machine, or something powered with considerably more aggressive propulsion. Decent rover building game. It has a fair amount of official levels. There is no air, so you can't make planes or helicopters - it is focused on ground vehicles. Some things are a bit unintuitive like how to connect springs/suspension properly or axles, but with trial and error it's doable. A tutorial teaches the basics only (how to add wheels, steering, and power). It also has a level editor and a community workshop to share levels or rovers. If you have an itch about vehicle building to complete challenge levels, this is a very decent game. IMPORTANT: Undo seems to delete all custom controls, you should save whenever you modify inputs on a vehicle to avoid accidental erasure of inputs.

Amazing game, I love the design, the idea, the simplicity, and the ease of being able to get into creating. That being said, this game comes with its flaws and bugs: The piston options got me stuck and I had to force shut down the game; Every time I deleted a beam, it would delete sub-category pieces connected to it (springs, pistons, wheels); pieces MUST connect to something, which makes it hard to shape what you want to see in your design. THAT being said... creating an engineering game is no easy feat. I commend Hatfuls Games for taking on such a feat and even (if not almost) succeed at it!! Wonderful job on the game... I will be refunding it... Nothing peronal, I just expected a little change over 4 years of this game being around. Recommended to any engineer that sees this game on sale, and then doesn't mind struggling a little. Happy Trails!

I got really excited about this game when I bought it. Pretty much all the reviews, both good and bad, note how complicated building can get and that is exactly why I bought this game. Unfortunately, after spending 30 minutes trying to work through the UI and tutorials and then spending an hour over-engineering basic suspension for a car, one of the settings menus wouldn't close. I couldn't exit the menu or save my craft so I just had to close the game and I probably won't be opening it up again. Some other bugs I can deal with (solar panels disappearing, misplaced UI, etc) but having a game-breaking bug 2 hours in is really not a good sign.

As reported by other players: too many bugs on the saving system, most of them on the control system. I gave up after 3 bug, luckly i spent less than 1 euro.
