About Saccharine
Ever have one of those holidays?
Former police officer and private detective Sanya K. Vaffelzscki just wants to spend the holidays with her comrades out west. Some turkey and eggnog. Not a lot to ask, right?Unfortunately, some festive terrorists have their own holiday plans.A cult lead by God's Greatest Gift has taken over the frozen northern reaches of the Republic of Aysburg, and are hijacking all communications - TV, cellular, even parts of the internet - to spread their idea of holiday cheer.Fortunately for Sanya, she's proficient in most firearms, and has an undying flame in her heart - to eat turkey with her friends at Christmastime, or die trying!Saccharine is a violent over the top romp through the holidays.Cool Features!
- Eight weapons to kick festive butt with. The candy cane shiv and your 9mm pistol are just the beginning - get the huge four gauge (or is it four guage?) shotgun, a "less lethal" foam dart gun, explosive Christmas crackers, missile-toe launchers, and BB guns. Lay waste to the holly jolly eviltons!
- Six sizeable levels. Start at an abandoned truck stop and make your way to the northwest through the city streets and malls, and the snowy tundras of the true north.
- A plethora of evil enemies! Not-so cuddly living teddy bears with shotguns, brainwashed elves with candy cane guns, possessed reindeer that glow so bright, demonic wreaths... and the dreaded cheese police, just to name a few.
- Hand drawn Flash sprites and pixelated textures make for a neat aesthetic reminiscent of flash animations from the 90s and 2000s.
- Funny gags and references hidden throughout.

✦ AI summary
Players praise this short Christmas-themed shooter for its charming Newgrounds-style flash animation aesthetic, fun gameplay, and entertaining cheesy character voicelines that make it a worthwhile addition to holiday game rotations. The main requests from players are the addition of Steam achievements and a no-blood option for presentation purposes, though some also note the game is quite easy even on harder difficulties.

A throwback to Christmas Specials and 90s/2000s Flash Games combined, Saccharine has the greatest controls, mechanics, and a unique short storyline complete with six-packaged levels and creative eight festive weapons.
I have mixed feelings about this game and although it is not terrible, I decided to flip the thumb down here, because I think that it's current rating (18 out of 18 reviews = 100% positive at this time) is simply not justified for what it offers -- even at that low price point -- and because one thing annoyed me in particular. On the positive side, the game does bring back some good old early-90's vibes with a fairly nice midi soundtrack and the X-mas setting is a nice change from the usual demon/cyborg/zombie shooters out there. The art design, sound effects and voice overs are comicly bad in the sense of a B/C/D-move, but this is intentional and so I can book this as "artists freedom" and I am fine with that. The selection of weapons is solid, but unspectacular and I have mostly used the shotgun throughout most of the game, as most of the other weapons somehow felt less balanced or "unhandy" to use for the lack of a better word. The level design is pretty bare-bones in the sense that there is very little decoration scattered around to make the levels feel lively (kind of like the first two Doom games) and so the levels have a sterile feel to them even though they are quite colo…
Fun, but short FPS, just needs steam achievements, then it would be perfect!!
Just a short and sweet Christmas shooter. Would recommend for being a good Christmas game. Could do with a no blood option purely for presentation
Im so glad to randomly stumble upon this Silly game its so lovely short altough a bit too easy (epic gamer alert) on the hardest difficulty but really levels are nice the characters and voicelines are nice and cheesy (besides the plush waow ok accidentally pressed e on it and got that, its fine just unexpected) i love the artstyle its scrunkly dont know how else to call it rocket launcher felt good i like that oh oh The Cute cop mouse is THE HARDEST ENEMY IN THIS DAMN GAME HE DOES SO MUCH DAMAGE OH MY GOD he isnt an issue but you could replace him even with the end boss (i loved the second stage where she appeared to play like the player does) and it would still be easier than THE RAT BASTARD (altough really cute) Interestingly enough enemies do have factions or something like that they even attack each other thats so cool. thank you meow meow
