I'm on the second level. Very fun game so far! I kinda suck at using the slide-move mechanics when fighting, but I'm still getting by and enjoying it. The one kind-of downside is that it's a little easy to forget to pull a switch or open a door at times -- basically the "I want to clear the room/area first... forgot that there was a door in that one office that I never opened" situation. So I have spent some time wandering around for quite a while until finally finding the switch/door I missed. (It doesn't give precise "Objective" pins on its map.) I think an option to show where you need to go next to progress, in case you get kinda tired of wandering, would be a nice addition, if it were presented in a non-4th-wall-breaking kind of way, only after you've been near the place but it's been like 30 minutes of gameplay since then. This game has Half-Life style enemies, rather than DOOM or Supplice style ones (Supplice is a phenomenal game, by the way). In other words, fewer of them, and they're actually smart (they don't just stand out in the open), and they're harder to kill. I like the graphical style a lot. I'm halfway through the game on the easiest difficulty and the fights don't feel remotely fair. The worst is I spend almost all of my time lost.

Selaco is seriously a great boomer shooter. In fact, it's kind of a mixture of the fast paced high intensity action of a boomer shooter with some great environmental story telling with the level design of something like Half Life. The game is seriously challenging, you'll die a lot, but it's a ton of fun all the way through. Some of the complaints are about getting lost in levels, that must have been patched out because there are green lights guiding you to your next objective. The level design is great over all. The combat is intense. The music fits in perfectly. I love how it's not always all action too with some empty sections scattered around while you enjoy the scenario. If you're interested in boomer shooters, this is a must play. It's crazy to think only 1 episode of 3 is out and this is so polished. I would honestly say this is worth it just for the first episode alone.

Easily my favorite game of the past decade. The combat is fast paced, visceral, and requires skill. The world building is staggering (considering it is built on GZDoom). I'm a casual gamer, yet I'm on my 5th playthrough, all but counting the days until Chapter 2 releases. The world casually awaits GTA6, I impatiently await Selaco Chapter 2.
