Samuel Prince Attorney at Law Chapter 1

Having finished the first chapter after coming here from a promising recommendation on the Ace Attorney subreddit. I must say I greatly enjoyed. As a huge fan of the Ace Attorney franchise itself, this game did a wonderful job of imitating the courtroom style of gameplay. The trial segment was well thought out and the testimonies were clear and made sense, with the plot flowing well- which when writing an intricate and detailed murder plot and making sure the culprit isn't caught too easily, is very impressive and definitely worthy of praise. The OST was solid and I have no complaints regarding that, while the VA (for the objections, etc.) were fine. My main criticism is of the "OBJECTION" of the protagonist himself which could've been a bit more energetic, as I found myself to rather like Victoire's "objection" and "Enough!" which I found fit him very well. The artstyle/character design is an interesting point. In my opinion I think it's quite cute and I personally liked the designs of all, but notably Maxine & Victoire. "Samuel Prince Attorney at Law Chapter 1" isn't a game. It looks like an e-book dumped on Steam masquerading as a game, but it's not that either! This is an advert! This is just the "try before you buy" intro to some cringe fan-fiction, and the "author" expects you to pay money for the rest... imagine paying money for someone's high school anime club dropout fan-fiction. Ugh. This is never okay. There is no gameplay here because this is just an advert for a garbage high school anime club dropout fan-fiction e-book. It's full of cringey dialogue and amateur writing that would be rejected by any actual book publisher... leaving the "author" of this garbage to shove it onto Steam Direct. I liked it. some parts are little slow with clicking. the art style is simple but has some charm and the whole thing was nicely thought out. i liked catching on to small details that were useful later

r/aceattorney sent me. this is actually surprisingly good. despite the (admittedly quite charming) art, i got surprisingly invested. one criticism i have is the one part at the end where the text goes really slow. i think it's excessive, but apart from that, i recommend it. seriously it's good

Just finished chapter 1. I'm a big Ace Attorney fan and this game is...basically an Ace Attorney clone. Not that that's such a bad thing. Though it definitely seemed to lack polish in certain areas. My main two complaints are that, first, the text regularly cuts off, continuing onto an invisible fourth line, so I was unable to read them in full. It didn't break the game as it was usually only one or two words, but it was frequent enough to be noticeable. And second, I got a guilty verdict during the final cross-examination, and the game autosaved just before, so I had to start the entire case over from the beginning (since there's actually a hidden pause menu to save the game I didn't know about; you have to press Esc), and there's no real option to speed up text. Even the "much faster" option isn't really noticeably faster than "normal". Some of the puzzles also seemed a bit too simple and obvious. Some glaring contradictions weren't addressed at all until significantly after I noticed them. The story seems pretty interesting, though. I may buy chapter 2 and continue playing; there certainly seem to be worse ways to spend five bucks. And hey, chapter 1 is free, and it's more than…
