Trials of Innocence

If you like Phoenix Wright games, this is similar to that in presentation and style but different in storytelling style and I really loved it. My only real issues with this game are minor fixable translation issues and visual text errors resulting in spelling errors, some tenses being wrong, and one character having his name stuck in Chinese characters in Chapter 5. There's also one instance of the wrong character's name being used at the top of the box in Chapter 3 in the detention center, and the wrong name of Jake Marshall (not a character in the game, likely a placeholder left in) used in Chapter 5. Additionally, in a confrontation in Chapter 2, the word error has code in it by mistake. A few times lines repeat twice. In confrontations where the text flies into place sometimes causes overlapping as well. These are ultimately all relatively minor visual text issues though in placement or spelling, I think the script just needs reviewed a bit more to fix most of these and while I won't deny these issues exist, the translation in English is still perfectly legible and sensical. Havent finished it but at the price it gives a very nice homage to the ace attorney games, If you liked them youll like this one as well. Sure its not as polished as ace attorney in the smaller details but at the price you pay and the size of the stuidion i had a really good time and recommend you to get it if you like these types of games.

After finishing the game, I recommend it heartily to any fan of the ace attorney games or VN's/murder mysteries in general, so long as you can handle the english translation being mediocre at best. The game is lengthy, taking me around 44 hours to finish while reading at decent speed, where the quality of case 2-4 and especially 5 are relatively high. The music is also great depending on the track and you actually have some agency over the ending, which is extremely rare in ace attornet. Unfortunantely, as said before, the translation is functional overall but dialogue was very clearly mostly translated literally by what I assume is AI or auto-translate in general. Pros: + In general, good to great music. + Visuals overall are good, though some charactert have much better assets than others. + The trial quality of case 2 and 3 is good, the one for case 4 and 5 is great. + Very lengthy, good amount of content for the price (+- 44 hours to finish). + Voice acting (in Chinese) for dramatic moments, certain cutscenes and direct confrontations in court battles. + Your final choice is memorable and makes you think about justice and law. Maybe not logical but story line is a masterpiece.

If you really like Ace Attorney style games, this will scratch that itch. However, I just didn't really enjoy it myself, for a few reasons: - the English translation is pretty bad, and one character's name is sometimes displayed with Chinese characters and sometimes with English ones, which is confusing - A lot of questions in the trials are on a short timer, which is stressful and means I had to do a lot of loading saves - I felt like the game slogged on and did not respect the player's time, I was super ready for the game to wrap up and then there was a section where you had to investigate with four different detectives separately, which felt like a waste of time So I did not enjoy it, but others might!
