> It's ok to just be ok ## Why - Charming pixel art & very nice water - Which is used to creatively signpost some secrets - The core combat/traversal mechanic is a cool idea ## Why Not - The core combat/traversal mechanic is more or less the only cool idea - And it has a few drawbacks holding it back from carrying the game - Didn't unlock a single achievement despite meeting the requirements... ## Impressions Sealed Bite is a short but solid platformer held back from being special by slight annoyances with its primary mechanic. Shortly after starting your journey a werewolf bites you, somehow imbuing you with the ability to hurl yourself through the air at enemies as both a method of attack and traversal. This is a pretty cool idea and it's what sets the game apart from many other competent entries to the genre, along with nice pixel art and water the dev is clearly (justifiably!) proud of given how common it is. While I'd definitely call this a good game and probably worth your time, there are a few minor issues with its main mechanic which'll likely lead to plenty of frustration during your playthrough: - Dashing through an enemy gives no/few iframes - There's no 'cooldow…

I wish Steam had some kind of middle-ground option when it comes to reviews like this. For the price of 9,75€, I honestly don’t think the game quite justifies it. It’s marketed as a Metroidvania, but it feels too linear and also too short at around 2–3 hours to really feel like one. I never got that sense of exploration, nor that feeling of being lost and not knowing what to do. That said, it’s not without its strengths. The graphics are genuinely gorgeous, with a really appealing art style, and the gameplay itself is fun and responsive while it lasts. It just feels like it ends before it has the chance to fully open up or evolve into something more memorable. Overall, I’m giving it a thumbs up, but with some hesitation. I’d recommend picking it up on sale rather than at full price.
