About Second Sun

WELCOME TO SECOND SUN, A PASSION PROJECT BY AN INDIE DEV TEAM
A civil war rages between the Empire and the Order of the Second Sun. The land has been ravaged and the Empire is on the verge of ruin. Hope is dwindling rapidly, as the Good Sun's light dims. You are a Sunborn, a warrior with special abilities, tasked with protecting the Empire. All hope is on you to win the war. The Empire expects great things of you.

Fight off enemies using your class abilities, weapons, and, above all, your skills in this Hi-octane FPS RPG. Combat is fast-paced and relies on movement. Enemies will claw at you, shoot at you, and chase you. Will you be able to fight your way through them before it is too late?
Kill, loot, and upgrade your gear. Second Sun has a clear progression system which keeps every kill exciting. Every enemy drop and every chest could contain a crucial item for your quest. The stats you want to focus on and how you want to build your Sunborn are up to you.

A carefully crafted world with an impressionist character. Relish the beautiful surroundings and remember why you’re fighting - to bring the Good Sun’s light back. Second Sun uses a mixture of an open map with elements such as procedurally generated enemy placements, points of interest, loot, and dungeons to make every encounter unique and exciting!
  • Enjoy the fast-paced combat
  • Battle your way through the randomly generated dungeons
  • Fight, loot and upgrade your gear and abilities
  • Explore a beautifully crafted open map
  • Customise your character, choose your class and join the Empire!

This game is really cool in concept, but there's some QoL issues across the board that I think the devs should consider improving on. First off is general visibility. Everything has this same earthy color palette, making it really difficult to discern what is just environment vs what is and enemy, or what you can interact with at a glance. This is particularly bad when it comes to encountering enemies that look like tree stumps in the middle of a forest. Now enemies do appear on your mini-map as red dots, so you get a warning that they are there, but that means taking your eyes off the action in the center of the screen to constantly glance at the mini-map in the top right corner just to maintain situational awareness, and in many cases, by the time you realize you're engaged with an enemy that came running from the next room over, you're already being slaughtered. In general, while playing this game, I just constantly have this fog of war hanging over my head, making me feel like I'm spending more time simply orienting myself than engaging with the game in a way that's fun. Hopefully there will be updates to solve some of these issues if the game isn't dead already (th…

High potential with some huge flaws. The setting is awesome along with the combat idea of blending gunplay and magic. But enemy autoleveling ruins the whole excitement of leveling up and progression. The enemy behaviour suggests the use of a dash, but there is none in the game, so instead of creating various tactics which would be possible with the dash move, there's only one - keep distance and shoot. There are some artistic flaws as well. For instance, adding fade ins and outs when the scene changes (like in dialogue or on death screen) would make the whole picture to be percieved way smoother. Dialogue windows look like placeholders in an alpha build. The vignettes of spells are confusing and give a feeling of taking damage, rather than inflicting it. And now for the elephant in the room - sound. It is VERY poor. 90s FPS sounded better. The guns lack some high frequency sounds, like mechanics. There is no impact of combat and even the explorating. The hit pots produce the sound of a porcelain cup being put on a saucer. Soundscape is filled with ambient sounds, yet feels empty. Some ambience SFX is not perfectly looped. And the music...Well, it's just there. It does not create …

Very simple, enjoyable shooter with a little RPG elements. Graphics are good, and runs fine. Also cheap. I like it very much. And I hope there will be a second part.
