story is alright, music is uhh...mid the rest of the game however is kind of baller for a free game. some of the bosses and enemies are pretty unique and fun especially stage 3 and 5, overall would recommend.

You can yaw the fighter in the STG! Very good plot and paintings, but textures not that relevant to the lore, upgrade combination is somewhat creative (a little bit) I admire the protagonist, he can have such a beautiful and tender lover, I will definitely do the same thing to resurrect her if I have one as well...

"Dark Old Sun" is is a failed attempt to make a 2D retro bullet hell/shoot 'em up in 2018, some 30 odd years after the genre became obsolete. Smart business plan. Anyway, at least it was genuinely made as far as I can tell, not an asset flip or anything. But genuine intent does not automatically translate to a stellar gaming experience, as this game shows. What do you do in the game? It's really basic shoot 'em up stuff, but at least they got the game to work and play in widescreen. Unfortunately it's clunky and unpolished, not that much fun to play, and has a trite and pointlessly unengaging storyline. A whole bunch of things here aren't done well, to the point that this is less than the sum of its parts. On the topic of visuals, the weak looking 2D retro assets seem like they'd be more at home in a browser game or a mobile app. 3D graphics accelerators hit the mainstream of PC gaming in the mid 1990's with cards like the ATI Rage and Voodoo3D, there's no excuse for such poor 2D graphics in 2025.
