Traveller, get ready to dive into Shape of Dreams while the dream lasts. Shape of Dreams is a hidden roguelite gem that deserves much more attention. The combination of action roguelite gameplay with deep buildcrafting makes every run feel different and there is an incredible amount of room to experiment with different Memories, abilities, and playstyles. The room for theorycrafting your build and playstyle is boundless, pretty much sky is the limit but it also comes with a downside. A lot of progression and discovery is locked behind some rather hardcore and grindy carrot-and-stick systems. It can be rewarding when you finally unlock something but at times it feels like the game is deliberately artificially prolong the gameplay by making you work a little too hard to unlock your progression and skill tree. That said, the core gameplay is fantastic. The combat is fast, satisfying, and chaotic without becoming completely overwhelming. Exploring the Dreams, collecting Memories, experimenting with combinations, and slowly turning your character into an absolute monster is where the game really shines.
