Roboquest

I bought it immediately after seeing "pow" "bam" and "bang" appearing after every single shot, and thankfully it is an amazing roguelike shooter, heavily recommend for those who like funny text instead of sound design.

I usually can't really get into fast-paced shooters or non turned-based roguelikes, but this game managed to break both of those molds at once for me. Only 2 hours into the demo I knew I needed the full game into my library. The effortlessly smooth gunplay, maneuverability tactics, and unrelenting (but adjustable) difficulty all just made me keep coming back for more better than other twitch shooters and some roguelikes could. The artstyle is fantastic, the music is REALLY AWESOME, and the story and dialogue are simple and cheeky, akin to a old action comic book, but it's just compelling enough for what the game needs. The game also plays beautifully on a controller and on Steam Deck, too, despite needing to squint a bit for some text. The controller settings are adjustable to make aiming so much easier, to a point where you turn it into a literal aimbot if you like. (Which checks out since you're playing as a robot after all) Definitely try out the demo for the game first, and it's it's up to speed for you, Roboquest is absolutely worth the price.

this game is a lot of fun, whether you play alone or with a friend. online co-op is really smooth and works unexpectedly well ( - no offense, we just weren't expecting it to be as straight-forward as it is!). we haven't had connection issues, and I think the way it handles progression for two players is well done. aside from one seemingly unreachable data log we haven't encountered any bugs and have been happily shooting away. just keep in mind the game can be time-consuming as each run gets reset when you leave the game, so plan wisely if you're planning to do a full run.

A satisfying and engaging co-op experience that let a friend and I catch up weekly as we slowly worked through the campaign. Difficult enough to be keep your attention in moment to moment gameplay, but with enough breathing space that you can actually talk with the other player. We have played a few of these co-op rouge-likes and this is definitely one of the stronger ones. Its a frantic game where you will often be backed into a corner, but one where you can recognise how your own misplays bring about your failed runs. There is a definite run-to-run progression where your character gets stronger and your options increase as you play, but you also feel the gradual improvement in your own skill as you keep pushing through - meaning the game is more than just "dying to get stronger". Really appreciated the work done by the team on this game and looking forwards to seeing what the developers do next.
