Shape of the World is an exploration game where a rich and colorful world grows around you, a relaxing and interactive escape about getting yourself pleasantly lost. Your presence is the driving force behind the procedurally populated environment amble through a dream-like forest, aquatic caves and peaceful shores.
First-person explorer:
Unwind as you wander surreal environments that beckon you to explore, hinting at distant landmarks and encouraging you to delve deeper into the woods. Travel at your own pace: no ticking clock or perils laying in wait will prevent you from enjoying your journey here.

The visuals are stunning, even if I, like other reviewers, did not love the pastels in the initial levels, and the sound work is immersive, impressive, and very well done. It reminds me a lot of Journey, Abzu, and other games of the genre, where you get to spend a little while immersed in colorful graphics and just vibe, but... ...unfortunately, there was no vibing to be had in my case, as the controls on this thing feel just awful. I felt like I played this whole game wading through the Boston Molasses Disaster. It was like the beautiful version of being stuck behind two semi-trucks going 20 under on the freeway. For an hour and a half, I was a native New Yorker stuck behind the world's slowest tourist, and no amount of seed-launching or tree-hopping could make me go at a speed that felt any faster than watching paint dry. When I did find the big stones you can use to launch yourself, I frequently flung myself off of the mountain I was climbing and had to start. All. Over. Between that and every object constantly feeling too far away to interact with (a big stone could have pulled me back to where I fell, but the distance you need to be from them is very inconsistent), it was a m…3 found this helpful

70/100 Nice music and concept, mystic and otherworldy, and I'm not a fan of low-poly. Honestly, the pastel colors and oversaturated color sections are ugly and headching. Ground is hard to distinguish, especially when pastel and dark colors paint the landscape. Would replay it later for the moments when colors are not friking pastel, like the swamp that's black, white and golden. Give it a try if you want a walking simulator without puzzles.1 found this helpful
Some of the most god awful achievement design I've ever seen attatched to a game that doesn't even effectively evoke what it intends to. Just trash.
Well the game wasn't lying when it said it was a 1-3 hour escape from work, anxiety and stress because that's exactly what i got. An enjoyable 3 hour first playthrough taking in the sights at a leisurely pace for most achievements followed by a 1 hour second one for a few more chievos. I could do a 3rd one for the last few but i got my money's worth out of this one with the steep discount the game regularly makes. To be honest it's not the best 'walking sim' game i've played (journey forever) but the unique visuals and dynamic world do enough to make it memorable. The shifts in colour can be suprisingly beautiful and the gameplay is very relaxing just taking in the sights. The music was a bit less memorable though but fit the vibes well and performance was smooth. Wether or not this game is for you purely depends on if you like short pallete cleansers every now and then but for the discounted price i would say give it a shot.
