Shining Song Starnova

Shining Song Starnova is a story-heavy adult visual novel that surprised me with how engaging its writing and character development are. The idol industry setting feels fleshed out, and the drama kept me invested far beyond the adult content. Lewd scenes are well integrated instead of feeling forced. A great pick if you want substance along with spice.

Hope for hope's sake. That's one of the last lines of this Vn and it sums up the stories within it perfectly. The routes of this vn are about failure, waiting too long for your dreams, and the people who will put you down along the way. The hardest part is the emptiness achieving your dreams can often bring. There are different degrees of success for the different characters, and reading it asks you to reflect and ask yourself what would ultimately bring you happiness. While I have varying opinions on the heroines present here, I can't deny that they each fought for their own hopes and dreams. Life sucks, it can challenge us, but just like how fiction can inspire hope, this tory embodies how that isn't the whole story. Still, we have to fight for the hope for a better tomorrow.

Survive the f****ed up entertainment industry through the power of love and dreams and all that. There's some decent social commentary in there but it was disappointing to not see more depth in the story and characters. They do get a little more development beyond the basic tropes once you get into the individual routes, but each story is primarily a smattering of major events that skips over quite a bit with some filler and occasional comedic events. You don't feel like you've gotten a relatively full story until you've done a bunch of the routes, and by that point it was feeling a bit repetitive. The artwork similarly felt pretty basic and undeveloped. Oh, and there are some pretty terrible, outdated lines in there. 5/10 - could have been much better with fewer girls and more time spent on really developing the remaining content.

A so and so story about rejects doing an underdog story, it's basic but still enjoyable /// Requires a +18 patch to get the whole content /// The Good: -Good character and background design -Some scenes are even animated -Some music is actually decent The Bad: -Nemu's VA sounds like she used an air fryer to record her lines -Few lines are fully voiced, everything else gets an occasional one liner so that you don't fall asleep or forget who's talking -"The big bad" is cartoonishly evil, this would make sense in something like Sunrider, but Starnova is depicting somewhat real world Japan The Ugly: -Not much diverging story branches, it's linear choices between "choose to advance" or "get a short scene and go back to the choice" -Could have done with more than one voice over language -A lot of secondary characters don't even have a visual representation, not even a caricature I presume at a steady pace you could fully clear this novel in like 40-60 hours
