Ship Ahoy Open BETA

Great and simple Pirate experience! The game reminded me of "Lone Pirate VR" But way more polished and actually playeable. Your ship is constantly moving forward, and you steer it by moving the Helm in the desired direction, if you click the trigger you can accelerate. The combat against other bots was pretty engaging and a bit challenging. Graphics are cartoony and very "cute", which work perfectly for the kind of game this is. Your weapons instead of cannonballs shoot cats, birds or fishes, each having different shooting distances and damage outputs. There are a bunch of minigames you can try and they offer different experiences, so be sure to try them all. Performance was a bit of a letdown as it was pretty intensive considering the "simple" graphics, i did set the graphics settings to EPIC though... Also i got stuck on a couple of parts and couldnt move anywhere, no i didnt drop an anchor as they dont exist at the time of writing this... but that might be a cool thing to add? This open Beta is totally worth your time to try out, i eagerly await the full release of this game with the single player (coop!?? please!) campaign.

Задания довольно однообразны, а мир кажется немного пустым. Баги и недоработки все еще присутствуют, особенно в области механики перемещения и взаимодействия с окружением. Кроме того, баланс между разными типами кораблей требует доработки, некоторые классы кажутся явно сильнее других. В целом, 'Ship Ahoy Open BETA' имеет хороший потенциал, но нуждается в значительной полировке и добавлении контента. Если разработчики продолжат активно работать над проектом, устранят недостатки и наполнят мир интересными событиями и заданиями, то игра может стать весьма успешной. Пока что это многообещающая, но сырая заготовка.

Making VR exclusive PvP exclusive games is a great way to shoot yourself in the foot... PvP games need HUGE player bases to go viral, but Steam hardware surveys show only around 1% of gamers bother with VR, and that number is in sharp decline. VR is like the opera... it's been around for a long time but it still never caught on. So, "Ship Ahoy Open BETA" is a dead PvP game. Why did it fail? It's video game autopsy time! [i]Almost every PvP exclusive game on Steam fails.[/i] Only a tiny proportion of them "go viral". This game failed for many of the same reasons those others fail. The chief of which is the developer thinking that their game will "go viral" without actually creating any reason for it do so. Competition amongst PvP centric games is extreme…
