My New Year's resolution is to have the guts of the developers how put out this game and thought they could charge real money for it. Seriously, am I on the Alpha test server for this game? It is empty, the most I've seen is 3 people. Not 30, not physically seen, 3 people total in the zone. The graphics stink, the targeting system is woeful, the voice actors sound like they handed a script to someone on the street to just read, the missions are far to few and painfully boring. It was obvious that this was never play tested or if it was they did, never listened to the feedback.

I gave the game an honest chance. Repurchased it. Tried it again. Leveled to 20 in less than 20 hours.. I must've submitted at least 8 or 9 bug reports in just the last day before I submitted my review. Mainly bugs that stop mission progression. Edit: The developer fixed most of the bugs just days after posting this review. Mainly crafting is now working. Your character never changes. I feel the same at lvl 20 as I did at lvl 1, minus some additional abilities. The only thing that improves with each level is your health. Since enemies scale with you, you never feel like you're very powerful. Obtaining new spells every 2 levels and getting better augments are the only character progression. How did City of Heroes do it? You had to work to obtain flight, or another movement power. SOH feels the need to give everyone flight and super speed right away. So what you have is a homogenized group of superheroes that all feel the same. Veteran levels are definitely a benefit. After 20, you continue to gain vet levels which just increase your stats. So in a way, by end game, you will eventually feel more powerful as the mobs cap at lvl 20 but you continue to improve. It…

IMO it's a great deal for the price. If you like retro style classic tab target MMO's you will probably enjoy this game. The level of detail they put into everything from world design to character creation to housing is IMO award winning levels for a indie dev studio. There are some bugs that may require you to abandon + redo a quest(maybe even more than once) but so far haven't experienced anything game breaking and the game performance is good(optimized well). Edit: Just encountered a progression preventing issue today with the quest "Showdown" that prevents me from entering(loading) the building. I do consider this somewhat game breaking because it prevents the completion of the Iris quest line. Hopefully it will be fixed in a future patch. Edit to Edit: They just fixed the bug for the quest in the update today.
