A pretty fun and sweet alternative to other street-based skating games. Though to be honest, despite the already solid established core this game has, it still lacks refinement in areas like Quality of Life (stuff like respawning from waypoints feels unintuitive and clunky, especially since the camera angles often face the wrong direction after respawning from waypoints), in-game customization (I know and am happy it has built-in workshop support where making stuff like characters and models can be explained on one page, but the in-game options for selecting hats, tops, and bottoms – plus coloring all of them – still feel lacking; I'm also not a big fan of how hard it is to find the right color, because instead of a color picker or a set of preset color palettes, it's just sliders of preset color palettes that make finding the right one confusing), and game content (I won't complain much since I just finished the tutorial island, but the fact that I can't change my starting stance from goofy to regular bummed me out – though I'm just nitpicking). I do have mixed feelings about the game so far.. When I first started playing I had absolutely no idea where I was supposed to go or where I could access other maps. The navigation of menus & such as it stands is bad, which could turn off new players (however could easily be improved) I stuck with it a bit because I love games that have huge airs/jumps & ultimately it paid off because it's ended up being my favourite skateboarding game I've played so far on steam. Skater XL & Session are obviously graphically superior and more realistic but for me personally the controls are a tad too difficult to have a relaxing game, Skate Rift hits a different note for me; it has a dreamy, mellow vibe with relatively easy controls & lots of room for error on tricks. There is certainly a learning curve here but it's far more forgiving. However still needs more maps, modes etc. 6/10
