About Slightly Magic - 8bit Legacy Edition
Remastered and reprogrammed, here's the legacy edition of the popular 1990's game Slightly Magic.
Expanding on the arcade adventure style, Slightly Magic was noted for using spells to solve puzzles. Each spell has an ingredient which needs to be combined with the spell to activate it. Run, jump and dodge, collect items and spells, change your form and generally have a fun time in Slightly's world.
Bigwiz the wizard has left the castle in a hurry, in order to turn the King’s son Newton back into a frog.
Indeed, he was in such a hurry that he forgot to pack his spare wand, forgot to lock his laboratory door, and most importantly, forgot to return his utterly stupid, idiotic, incompetent, brain-dead nephew Slightly to his parents’ mud hut in the hills.
Oh well, it could be worse. A sunburnt dragon could be running off with the beautiful Princess Croak as we speak. The wizard’s spell cabinet might have been knocked over by a Flaming Octarian Whirlwind, scattering the spells everywhere. His kingliness the King might, in a fit of blind panic, have given Slightly the wizard’s private spell book to read. It might rain.
You see, it could be worse. But as it is, there’s not a cloud in the sky, a breeze in the air, or a whiff of dragon’s breath to be sniffed.
Hang on, where’s that pink fire-breathing creature going with that screaming princess? Is that a gentle wind wafting in through the door, or is it something stronger?
Oh no. Get the washing in mother, and lock all doors. Cancel the papers, and shoot the cow. I think it’s going to be one of those days…

Neat short adventure game from ZX Spectrum era, but with abandoned support sadly (F12 key brings debug console, absent crouch or death animations..)10 found this helpful

Well,,, Sorry to say that, but this game aged really bad. I played 20 minutes and I realized I'd better watch someone else solving the puzzles on youtube. It is simply not fun to die again and again doing a bunch of trial and error, with an inventory that lets you keep only two objects at a time, a mechanic that implies a lot of backtracking and some very bad platforming. Puzzles are not even clever, and the story is absent. I am sure this game was memorable and enjoyable in the old days, at the arcade... So buy it and play it again if you want to revive your childhood memories, or if you are somehow interested in the history of the genre. But if you are looking for a game that is fun to play today, choose something else. It is a good port, enriched with nice extra material. But all in all, it was a good game, that sadly did not stand the test of time.3 found this helpful
Yes, there is a good game here. Its something old. (yeep) Its something borrowed. (artstyle) Its something blue. (much is blue in this one) What could ever go wrong with that? Nothing really. Its one of those classic do something or die trying to do said something games. Worth 5,99Euros..... Nope. not even close. (you can get Batman; Arkham city for less, just as an example) Worth a 1/10th of that at the most. Games that looked like this in the 1990s......wouldnt had payed it any attention as there where alot better titles out at that time.... Simon the sorcerer 1 & 2 to mention just something.... This one should be considered a neutral vote for me but as we all know there is no such on Steam. So its a yes i recommend. but just.1 found this helpful
I had the Spectrum version back in the day and actually cleared it.
