A very solid platformer. The colorful pixel levels look great and are fun to play. Enemies varied in both appearance and attack patterns, there are plenty of climbing, moving platforms, fast-paced chases and mini games, attack and accelerate share the same key, so it takes time to master this game. Fast react is a must, in later levels there are descending pillars, jump early you will hit the spikes above and fall off the map, jump late you will not reach the next platform, not to mention the platform to stand is narrow, making surviving quite difficult. Your health is low, checkpoints are usually far apart. Boss fights are more tough, some you need to hit many times, making me wonder whether I hit the right place. The game demands a lot of effort and patience. My advice is to give the game a few extra tries, because some later levels are interesting. I would not say I enjoyed this game a great deal, mostly because I died too many times, one careless move can send you falling off the map for an instant death. First, I have to say that if you're playing with a controller and the controls seem weird (one button that both shoots and jumps) use Steam Input on the game's library page to remap the buttons. At first I thought the screwy controls were by design, but no. Once I got past that the game is a lot of fun! I love the pixel art graphics and the music is outstanding. There's also a good amount of challenge in finding all the hidden items in each level. That said, the controls are bit floaty and hitboxes don't always seem to be accurate. There's also a few spots I've found so far where if you miss a single difficult jump to reach a hidden item, you'll have to start the whole level over, which can get frustrating. Another reviewer said the game doesn't respect your time and I can kind of see that being true. But overall, it's very enjoyable and I'm going to try my best to see it to the end!

I'm really sorry, but I have to leave a negative review. It's very obvious that this game is a work of passion, coming from a developer who loved NES/GBC platformers. The art style, the little animations, the attention to detail... this game oozes charm. Which, unfortunately, makes it even more jarring when you realise how many shortcomings are present in it. First and foremost, the game loves to waste your time. You can notice it as soon as you get into one of the large, empty overworlds, where you travel at a snail's pace. And you'll be forced to do it whenever you want to change levels, since the game has no level select menu. Each death, it will take about 7 seconds to respawn, and since the levels are way too long, with a very small amount of checkpoints, and a lot of ways to die in one hit (plenty of bottomless pits, very precise jumps, way too floaty controls, plus a lot of hazards that can drop you into the pits), you'll be stuck in those 7 seconds for a lot of your time. I reeeally wanted to like this game. It has charming graphics, solid ideas, and I'll even admit I don't like dropping reviews for games I refunded; it feels like rubbing salt in the wound. However, I just couldn't bring myself to invest my time into this game. While the controls are solid in theory, they felt slippery and a bit unpolished for me, and more often than not I found myself accidentally moving to the side and getting hit by an enemy instead of landing on it. I feel like you could've improved this by adding a bit more drag to moving in the air, kinda like how Mario World's physics were handled in Super Mario Maker 2. That actually brings me to my next issue: I feel like you leaned too hard into the "old game" aesthetic and ended up remaking a lot of the problems from older games that were left out for a reason.
