Sonic CD

The atmosphere, gameplay and especially the Japanese soundtrack in this game elevate it to being my favorite entry in the Classic Sonic games, I feel happy when I play this game and I can't help but love most of it. It's definitely one of those games I really enjoy going back to over and over again whenever I get the itch or remember it fondly, I went back to this version because i forgot i didn't get all the achievements for it and finished it up, but luckily it's still available via Sonic Origins if you missed this version. I love this game to bits!

They must have been smoking some heavy stuff when making this game. For one, the color scheme feels like the developers threw darts at a dartboard and went with whatever color they landed on. After that, they took every asset they had, along with a few chili dogs, and threw them up all over each level. If there is any rhyme or reason to these stages, I am too dumb to comprehend it. This game holds a special place in my heart, but it doesn't come anywhere near Sonic 1, 2, 3, or Sonic & Knuckles. If you are a die hard fan, definitely give it a shot. If you are just looking to dip your toes into the Sonic series, I'd suggest avoiding this one.

Sonic cd is one of my favourite sonic games and games in general of all time, and the 2011 remaster is just for the most part a straight up upgrade from the orignal, my only issue with this version of the game that it removes the vocals from you can do anything and believe in yourself for basically no reason but other than that the gameplay is fantastic it looks amazing and the soundtrack is peak (mainly the Japanese soundtrack although I do like some of US soundtrack) it's also cool that they added tails as a playable character and added the unused parts of some songs, and compared to origins this version has much better audio mixing and still has voice clips which origins removed overall I think this version of sonic cd is the best way to play and is a fantastic game imo

What can I say? It’s my favorite Sonic game for a reason. This game is truly amazing — I love almost everything about it. Some of my personal highlights are the OST, the time travel mechanic, the Special Stages, and the awesome intro and ending animations. This game has such a good vibe, and it’s hard to explain, but if I had to guess, I’d say it’s a perfect blend of the beautiful stages and the amazing OST (JP/EU version). Unlike other Sonic games, Sonic CD actually encourages you to explore the maps and find cool secrets. Every level is huge and packed with stuff to discover. It’s exactly the kind of gameplay I enjoy — exploring and finding new things I might have missed on earlier playthroughs. On top of that, the game is very replayable. If you’ve previously beaten Sonic CD by just rushing through the levels as fast as possible and skipping the past robot generators, I highly recommend playing it again while aiming for the best ending. Seeing how the future changes depending on your choices is such a cool touch. If you don’t destroy the generators in the past, the future is usually barren and overrun with technology. I loved the Sonic games when they first came out, Sonic 1,2,3 & Knuckles. Completed them all, played them to death, no stone un turned, knew every detail about the levels, could play them with my eyes closed. However I was just a youngster back then. Even now Sonic will always hold a place in my heart from Childhood memories, However I never played Sonic CD as I didn't own the CD console. So I thought in my old age id dip my toe back into a Sonic game, and see what i could do, seems like a big mistake! The game play is just too fast, and compact on the screen to really get settled into the gameplay. The map design seems horrible, everything is a gotcha mistake, trying to kill you. I know Sonic is about going fast, but so fast that you cannot control, or comprehend WTH you're doing, isn't good. Also the controls with the flippers etc don't seem very intuitive, or accurate they seem to flip in the exact same direction regardless of how you time it or from where you leave the flipper. I literally got stuck in one section of flippers, because I just had zero control to leave the section, I felt helpless and died to time limit.
