Space Pilgrim Episode IV: Sol unfortunately feels very outdated and unfinished. The graphics are extremely simple and look like a typical RPG Maker game from many years ago, without its own style or special atmosphere. There is little comfort, few settings, and no fullscreen mode. The game is also very short and offers hardly any gameplay depth. Much of it runs automatically, and real challenges or interesting gameplay elements are almost completely missing. The sound is also unremarkable and barely contributes to the mood. Overall, the game feels more like a small story interlude than a standalone, fully-fledged game. Another clear drawback is the lack of language support. The game is only available in English, with no other language options. Especially in a heavily dialogue-driven game, this is a real obstacle for many players. The only real advantage is the price. At around €1.99, the game is at least fairly priced and doesn't tear a big hole in your wallet. Space Pilgrim Episode IV: Sol does have some approaches, but it remains clearly behind today's standards technically, gameplay-wise, and in terms of presentation. Those expecting a modern or varied adventure will be rat…
Tier: D (Purchased) Space Pilgrim Episode IV: Sol is a direct continuation of Space Pilgrim Episode III: Delta Pavonis. The main change in this episode is the introduction of branching story paths, which means the game can be completed at least twice by default. Personally, I find this change poorly executed. While the intention is clearly to emphasize a more story-driven experience, I prefer linear storytelling over branching narratives. Aside from this story variation, the rest of the game remains largely identical to Episode III, with no major mechanical or gameplay improvements. Conclusion The game is still worth trying, mainly because it is inexpensive. Even at full price, it remains affordable and acceptable for players who are already following the Space Pilgrim series.
Idk if it's just me or was this by far the best one of the 4 main games. Loved it. LOVED it. Honestly a really good time.
