About Space Pilgrim Academy: Year 1

Story

Gail Pilgrim. Starship captain, war hero, ambassador for the new Galactic Union and chancellor of the Pilgrim Space Academy.

After everything that she's been through since her carefree days as a common hauler of goods and passengers, there would seem to be very little left in the universe that could possibly daunt her. That is, until the day her crew answers a distress call from Latona Research Station, which proves to be the first chapter in an unprecedented tale of counter-revolution, espionage and betrayal.

Space Pilgrim Academy: Year 1 is a sequel to the popular Space Pilgrim Saga set nine years after the events of the last episode. In this brand new space adventure, you will play as both Gail Pilgrim and Margaret Dale, the academy's newest recruit.

Features

 • As Gail Pilgrim, encounter some old acquaintances, travel to new locations and begin to uncover the mystery behind the destruction of Latona station.
 • As Margaret Dale, attend classes at the academy: cosmography, xenobiology, engineering and more. You can choose whether to try and impress or annoy the teachers, and your performance will impact her grades at the end of the term. Just remember to keep watch for those dark forces which might seek to do her harm.
 • Continue to relive the days of good old fashioned point-and-click adventure games.
 • About five hours of gameplay for the average player.
 • Mouse, keyboard and controller support.

✦ AI summary

Players praise Space Pilgrim Academy as a worthwhile continuation of the beloved series, with strong worldbuilding, memorable characters, and a good mix of humor and emotional depth that resonates long after finishing. However, some players find the shift to a high school academy setting with classroom scenes and teenage drama jarring compared to the original games' focus on adult space exploration, and worry the series may spend too many instalments in this school environment rather than returning to the original characters' adventures.

This is another very good entry in the Space Pilgrim series, I really would recommend if you haven't played them to play the first 4 episodes before this one, because you'll get a lot more out of the character interactions. If you didn't get the context of the plot and dynamic of the last chapters, you might end up being confused by some of the plot threads. You take on the role of Maggie Dale who is beginning her first year at Space academy, you'll be taking on various galactic subjects while interacting with your peers and trying to unravel some of the mysteries that surround you. Some of the pacing is a bit slow, but there's a lot of interesting concepts being talked about and actually quite a few instances where I laughed out loud from some of the silly humor. The characters are fun to listen to banter and are entertaining similar to the previous entries, some of the other kids are a little milktoast but I enjoyed your main friends Diane and Kenrick. I'm very excited to check out the next several years of the academy, there's plenty of meat here for a small RPG maker title, I was able to get 100% completion using a guide in about 5 hours. If you enjoyed the previous entries…

Finished the Space Pilgrim saga and wanted to say thank you. The characters, worldbuilding, and story stayed with me long after I finished. It was one of the most memorable RPG Maker experiences I've ever had. Thanks again

Oof.. I'm sorry to say I'm not really feeling this Academy thing, going to class and taking tests. I thought we would still follow Gail and her friends, doing some kind of training or something, like adult academy. I just recently figured out that the term "academy" is commonly used in anime. Feels like Pilgrim Academy is trying to appeal to teenagers who love anime and japanese high school games, the vibes are so different from the first 4 episodes. I will keep going even though I'm struggling to click the play-button. Hopefully this teenage drama won't go on for too long (there can't be 4 games of this school stuff?!), and then we can get back to Gail and her travels.

Space Pilgrim Academy: Year 1, developed by Pilgrim Adventures and published by GrabTheGames, is a thoughtfully crafted point-and-click adventure that continues the Space Pilgrim saga while remaining accessible to new players. Set nine years after the events of the previous games, it introduces a new generation of characters while retaining the series’ signature mix of humor, intrigue, and emotional depth. The game successfully blends classic adventure gameplay with a richly woven narrative, offering both a nostalgic and fresh experience for fans of sci-fi storytelling. The story revolves around two primary protagonists: Gail Pilgrim, the experienced starship captain now serving as chancellor of the Pilgrim Space Academy, and Margaret Dale, a young girl rescued from the destroyed Latona Research Station. Players alternate between these two perspectives, navigating Gail’s investigation into the station’s destruction and Margaret’s experiences as a new cadet. This dual narrative provides an engaging balance between high-stakes mystery and personal growth, exploring themes such as identity, loyalty, and the challenges of interstellar diplomacy. The writing is witty, emotionally reson…

This is the first installment in the sequel series to the Space Pilgrim tetralogy. While the Space Pilgrim Academy series can be enjoyed as a stand-alone title, the additional context from the earlier entries make it more engaging. It improves upon the earlier games with a larger map (with an "always dash" option that makes navigating it quicker), better music and more NPCs with interesting back-stories. Personally, I found the conclusion of the previous series too optimistic and oversimplified:
the corrupt galactic police, JACs, are beaten at Callisto and within "one year" the rebels bring about reforms and reunify the galaxy under a democratic government where everyone lives happily ever after
. This sequel series goes further in depth about how some tensions and resentment still linger, offering a more realistic and nuanced plot. It is a well-written point and click game with a compelling narrative and interesting characters. The plot is split among Maggie's shenanigans and classes at the titular "Space Pilgrim Academy", and Gail's investigation of new antagonists. More playtime is devoted to Maggie's relatively low-stakes missions: each class presents an un…
