Splittown embraces the absurdity and whimsy of 90s point-and-clicks, while also drawing from the rich world-building, branching narratives, and player agency of classic CRPGs. Characters you meet aren't there just to be joke dispensers; they have their own motivations, backstories, and arcs. And despite the humor, we've tried to make your actions carry real weight in a world that feels lived-in and authentic.
Every nook and cranny has been crafted with care over nearly a decade, resulting in a game world brimming with life and interactivity. Whether you’re delving into lore, engaging in unexpected side quests, or simply experimenting with the environment, you’ll find that the world reacts to your actions in surprising ways. It’s a dense and layered world, packed with achievements, collectibles, easter eggs and hidden gags.
We've set out to create a narrative filled with genuine moments of suspense, sadness, triumph, and everything in between. The world of Splittown might be absurd on the surface, but for the characters living in it, their struggles and victories are just as real.

🔸 EXPECTATIONS: a classic point and click adventure. 🔸 REALITY: a very 90s classic point and click adventure. 🔷 Splittown is a 'point and click' adventure game inspired by iconic 90s games in the genre (Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max, Toonstruck...). It shows everywhere: visual style, gameplay, animations, music... and for many, there's no need to say more, but for the wondering rest... 🔹 Splittown's point of distinction lies in the world building and character's lore: one can follow the game's objectives and miss most of what the game presents. It's full of elements the MC will comment on, and characters whose conversations don't lead to a clue for a puzzle. 🔹 It makes the characters more believable and alive, and look less like 'actors with a purpose'. It makes the player care and want to know more about them, the world, its inhabitants and their relations. These 'extras', are often tied to achievements and slight variations on certain events. 🔹 Sadly, the contrary applies to the story and character's development. All the care in giving everyone a backstory, results in a story that, by the end, resolves none of the major plots presented. As a result, it feels more lik…4 found this helpful
I’ve literally laughed out loud five times now while playing this, and that almost never happens to me, so I had to stop just to come here and drop a review. This game is a masterpiece, right up there with the LucasArts classics it’s clearly inspired by (Day of the Tentacle and Sam & Max Hit the Road). I haven’t even finished it yet, but I can already tell everything is spot on: the puzzles are clever, the art style is stunning, and the coding is top-notch. You can tell a lot of love went into the details. The characters are hilarious, the dialogue is gold, and the game definitely isn’t short. Again, the humor is just sensational—both in the writing and the situations (like that "unique" coffee machine or swimming through the canals under the washing machine). Also, shoutout to the map; it’s beautiful and super well-designed. If I really have to nitpick, there are a couple of tiny things: the character sprites get a bit pixelated/blurry when they’re very close, the slang can be a bit much sometimes, and the music gets slightly repetitive. Also, the UI and inventory are a bit clunky to navigate. But honestly? This is a fantastic game and easily one of the best adventures I've pl…2 found this helpful
Love RPG? Make sure to Follow my Curator Page for plenty more!
A LucasArts-style adventure that will take you through a full range of emotions. Want some nostalgia? You'll get it. Funny at the beginning and sad at the end. Personally, I felt like the plot took a wrong turn somewhere in the middle. The mini-game within the game, Skull Island, is a huge plus. The main character deserves an Oscar! I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. ✔️7/10 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMhBfN0rs4Q
And don't forget to Subscribe to my Youtube

Join my Steam Group
2 found this helpful
It's good, but it feels like a great game lost the plot in the middle, rushed to the end, and just kind of gave up the ending. Great graphics and super creative. Just wish the whole game could have been as great as the first half.
Splittown is a love letter to the adventure games of yore, set in a world with brightly colored pixel art and impossible architecture, filled with funny situations and fairly easy puzzles, along with a couple of mechanical challenges and codes to crack that make you feel like a spy on an impossible mission without delving too deep into clichéd secret agent tropes. I enjoyed controlling Leonard Nimby for the entire six hours (including that bonus side quest), though a memorable character he is not. Neither will the story linger for long when it’s done. It certainly has its charm, but the pieces of world-building proved to be too fragmented here to really rock my own. For retro adventure fans it’ll feel like a blast from the past, though with that comes some cumbersome interface issues that modern gamers may wish had been left in the past. Either way, it’s a solidly enjoyable experience. Does it compare to the early 90s genre classics it clearly wishes to emulate? To that I can only answer: close, but missed it by that much. https://adventuregamehotspot.com/review/5369/splittown
I am a big fan of 90's style point and click adventure games. Splittown captures the spirit of these games perfectly. The game left me wanting more and I am curious if the developers are planning on a sequel, I sure hope so!
