Squeakross: Home Squeak Home

Squeakross: Home Sweet Home takes everything I love about doing nonograms and picross and makes it into an even cosier experience. I love dressing up my little mouse/rat as well as decorating their little home. Something I especially like is the lack of a in game timer or " 3 strike" system. I don't ever feel the pressure of a timer counting how long it's taken me to solve a puzzle or it keeping track of any mistakes I may make. It makes it a much more relaxing experience and I would consider this game more laid back than other picross games. There are also a good variety of puzzles varying in difficulty, meaning anyone who likes picross can have some fun, no matter the skill level. Even if you do get stuck, you can always call on your little mouse to help you, with no repercussions which is really nice. There are also settings that you can change that make the puzzles more challenging too if that's something you are looking for, such as removing hint numbers, making it more like the traditional game you'd play on paper. If you’re a fan of Picross games and cozy games, this one is for you! 🐭❤️ You help this little mouse get cozy in his own home by unlocking furniture through Picross-style puzzles. It’s such a cute and relaxing game! This is the kind of game I like to play on the side while watching Netflix, YouTube, or playing an AFK game. There are also A LOT of levels, so this one will be in my rotation for a while! Definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something relaxing to play! 🥰

Pretty Good. Easy introduction to Nonograms

Disclaimer: I didn't care for the home decorations at all. I was just here for the puzzles. This is the second logic puzzle game I've tried on Steam after Logic Bombs. Sadly, Squeakross did not scratch my puzzle itch nearly as well. I got bored after 100 puzzles. Even after disabling the help features, every puzzle feels incredibly formulaic: 1. Fill out every column/row that is "fully solved" from the get-go (just by looking at the block count) 2. Fill out partial columns/rows where the counts guarantee certain blocks to be there (i.e. a row of 10 with a counter of 8 means for sure the center 6 spots have a block) 3. Look at columns/rows that are close to whatever you just placed in the previous step, there is probably a new guaranteed block to be placed somewhere 4. Repeat step 3 until the level is over In the first 100 puzzles, I never encountered any level where I had to think two steps ahead. It's always just one step at a time. It's possible that later puzzles get more complicated. But if the game forces me to play hundreds of easy levels to get to some more interesting ones later, I can't be arsed.
