About Star Chronicles: Delta Quadrant
✦ AI summary
Pilot a lone exploration ship trapped in enemy space and fight your way to survival in this turn-based sci-fi strategy game where you grow stronger with each death through leveling, loot, and customizable skill builds. Battle across procedurally-laid tile maps, choose between defensive, aggressive, or adaptive playstyles, and manage power distribution between weapons, shields, and engines to overcome increasingly difficult foes.
Delta Quadrant is a sci-fi turn-based strategy game with lite rogue-like elements. Destroy enemies to collect loot, gain experience to level up and use skill points to become stronger. Intended as a fun little sci-fi title, not too hardcore or difficult.

Piloting a weak exploration ship, you are in search for a new homeworld for your people - that is, until you are lured into a trap by the Dark Order. This has you end up deep in unknown enemy space, with no allies or friends. Alone.

Your attempt to escape will put you in the path of numerous enemies. Fight to survive, gain experience, level up and get improved weapons and equipment. You will die, but you will also get stronger!

As you gain experience and level up, your ship gets stronger (improved hull strength, bigger shield capacity and more powerful engines), and you'll get skill points to help improve various aspects of your ship.

Customization - choose your play style - defensive / aggressive / adaptive

- Adaptive - Focus on energy transfer to easily adapt to the current circumstances. Divert all power to engines to flee if you're in a tight spot OR divert all power to weapons for a quicker kill OR divert all power to shields to outlast your enemi

Star Chronicles: Delta Quadrant, developed by Alister Software and published by Back to Basics Gaming, is a small-scale turn-based strategy game that combines light roguelike elements with a sci-fi adventure premise. The player assumes command of a lone exploration vessel thrust into hostile territory controlled by an alien faction known as the Dark Order. Tasked with surviving encounters, scavenging resources, and gradually upgrading their ship, the player embarks on a cyclical journey of combat and progression. It’s a familiar setup for fans of tactical strategy, but the game’s focus on simplicity and short, repeatable runs distinguishes it from more elaborate space simulations. Instead of grand fleet management or complex diplomacy, Star Chronicles emphasizes a tighter loop of incremental advancement—fight, upgrade, and survive just a little longer the next time around. From a gameplay perspective, Star Chronicles unfolds on a grid-based battlefield where positioning and resource management determine success. Each move and attack takes place within a turn-based structure, requiring forethought rather than reflexes. The roguelike influence becomes apparent through its progressio…2 found this helpful
So bad
I’ve spent some time with this game and honestly, it surprised me in a way I didn’t fully expect. I don’t want to sound dramatic, but there’s something oddly satisfying about how everything fits together — not in some perfect, polished “advertisement” way, but more like a game that knows exactly what it wants to be and just… goes for it. The first thing I noticed is the atmosphere. Every part of the game — the visuals, the sound, the pacing — kind of blends into this feeling that you’re actually inside its world, even if you’re just casually playing. I know that sounds a bit cliché, but it’s true. Sometimes it’s chaotic, sometimes slow, sometimes you’re just wandering around thinking “ok, what now?” but that’s honestly part of the charm. The game doesn’t try to rush you unless it actually needs to. Gameplay-wise, it has this mix of familiar elements and small twists that keep things from feeling stale. Nothing groundbreaking, maybe, but it all works together in a way that feels natural. There were moments when I thought “yeah, I’ve seen this in other games,” but then the game throws in tiny details or unexpected interactions that make it stand out just enough. It’s the kind of th…
