About Steelborn
Earth Headquarters lost contact with a remote colony on the unremarkable planet VL-744, and you, Major, along with your trusty war machine, were sent on a seemingly completely ordinary reconnaissance mission to find out the fate of the colony.
What awaits you on this godforsaken planet? What depths will you have to visit, how many will you have to kill, and what secrets will you uncover? Exciting gameplay will not let you relax, and an unpredictable plot won’t definitely let you get bored in this adventure!

The rich flora and fauna of the planet VL-744 is diverse, but, frankly, not very friendly. You will have to deal with insidious opponents, release thousands of ammunition at not the most pleasant creatures, and puzzle over how to defeat huge bosses.

A somewhat pretty looking game, I really had to push myself to get 3 hours of gameplay into this game as I found it to be rather underwhelming. Pros: Ahhh... hmm.... eh? I like the save/health/ammo restore mechanic. Boss designs (not the fights) look pretty good. Cons: Movement feels awful in the mech Secondary attack feels awful in the mech Bosses have too much life where you end up being held back by the 'overheat' mechanic or just dodging for far too long to finish a boss fight without any reason for it to go on as long as they do. Feels mostly like endurance tests which just isn't my jam. If I can not get hit for 3 minutes there isn't a reason the fight should take 5+ minutes. The exposition bits are... well, not terribly interesting. Pick up a PDA, read some pretty basic level plot. In English, there are a lot of grammar concerns. The lack of upgrades and weapons really stick out. Imagine if say, SOTN had just his starting sword, maybe 3-5 more swords throughout the game, and never improved anything else (jumping, dashing, health, no other equipment, etc). This has some promising concepts in it, but fails to measure up to other Metroidvanias and 2D shooters in my opinion. I originally bought it because I love mech games, and the one in this game definitely looks and feels powerful. The second level is extremely fun and well designed, with interlocking objectives, interesting interactions with the mech, and a very graceful map. Unfortunately, that same level of quality does not continue throughout the game, and several issues arose as I got further into it. This game is extremely short - I beat it in 3.6 hours. Then, it misses out on some serious design space for a game that is supposed to be about mechs. There are....no upgrades for your mech. None. It uses the same weapons for the entire game. It feels like the game was advertised to be a mech game, but then when you play it, everything you see the mech do in the tutorial level is all it will ever do. That is disappointing, and a waste of so much design potential. Additionally, the controls are quite a bit behind other games of this type, including weird gun animations and an extremely annoying "hitch" or cancellation of forward momentum upon landing from jumps, in both mech an…2 found this helpful

The robot portion just isn't fun. Go play Blaster Master instead.
Played it twice and have absolutely no interest in going back.
you know ruins a contra game? getting stuck on objects, fix your damn game and i'll give it another go at the moment the controls are terrible. don't buy this unless you feel like suffering.
