Biomech Hell

Great tribute to run & gun games like Contra or Metal Slug. The SEEP dev team really know how to pay tribute to classic style video games. I have played thru all their Swords & Bones games, that is why I tried Biomech Hell. I played game on my Steam deck and it worked great on the deck! I played the whole thing and got all of the endings within 4 hours. Each complete run takes about an hour and you have to complete 4 runs to get the true ending. But each run is somewhat different with a new stage and new bosses. Overall, cant complain given the low price point. Keep churning out these classic style tribute games SEEP, you know what you are doing!

The shooting in this game is really satisfying with lots of blood, cool weapons, and hit headshots that cause enemies head to explode. Fans of Contra definitely need to check this game out!

Now this is a good one! After [b]Thunderflash[/b], which I didn't like, I was afraid the next game with the same protagonists would be just another bland imitation of a classic, in this case [b]Contra[/b], but I'm happy I was wrong. [b]Biomech Hell[/b] not only understands the assignment, it executes it with care. Taking example from the best of the pack, aka [b]Contra Hard Corps[/b], the selectable characters aren't just different sprites but each has his own set of four weapons with limited ammo, besides the regular fast peashooter. The temptation would be to save those for the bosses, but using them on regular enemies not only garners the satisfaction of flashier deaths, it also racks up higher scores. Also inspired by [b]Hard Corps[/b] are a few branching paths, making it so that the game doesn't end after a mere single run; the first three times, the ending will see the villain escape to fight another day. By clearing the first three endings and garnering a certain score by the end of the fourth level, the path to the true ending is opened. Good Contra clone with some replayability.

A solid run 'n gun, one of the top three SEEP games I've played. What I like about them is that they don't just set out to make a clone of one famous game, like many indies do - instead, they make what is basically a solid entry into an old-school genre. Ignore the somewhat cheap illustrations, the gameplay fundamentals are solid here. Despite the 16-bit graphics, the pace is more akin to 8-bit Contra, though it's easier and has various modern conveniences (infinite credits, saving) that make him even more painless.

Another faux retro game, this time of Contra, thankfully with the insane difficulty toned down. Good at what it does. Huntdown is a superior game and you should buy it over this but you will get your money's worth even if you dont buy it on sale. Fun like other SEEP games but with more content than most of them (frankly I think the hours I racked up in Roar of Revenge are mostly because I sucked at that game despite digging it, though it also included my attempt at a better 2nd playthrough. A playthrough of this game thorough the easiest route (pick the nuclear plant the factory is bizarrely hard for a stage 2, possibly the hardest level in the game) took me a bit over an hour, however as the game informed me i hadn't actually stopped the doctor and would need to get the other 2 endings then playthrough the game again. Normally I hate this thing, but going through the factory lead to a siginficnalty different playthrough, with only the first stage being the same. Though the 3rd and 4th playthroughs were just replaying old content with a new stage at the end. Beating all this then unlocks Super Arcade and Boss Rush, which at the time of this review I have tried but not beaten. …
