Almost 0 effort was put into this... The actual games are great, nothing wrong with them It's just the barebones launcher that's the main issue. This looks like a mobile app launcher, the ones that have almost 0 options to customize graphics or resolutions besides having options for FullScreen, Fullscreen borderless or Windowed Mode. When you buy the game, it comes with Soundtrack of the game, the Rom itself, a separated emulator (how nice) and the manual in pdf (No surprise here), then you can customize the controls and that's about it for the Launcher after you buy the game... For a Steam Launcher this is so, but so barebones that even you have more value buying Konami Castlevania Collection than this. I wouldn't buy it for now... Instead I would wait for the devs to develop more the Launcher itself to at least show the game you are playing and maybe, just maybe the stage of the game you are in? otherwise I don't think Steam was a better place to sell... EGG Project you have better value as well IF you can launch the game over there of course. Oh Yeah, you receive the same content on EGG if you have the game over there, It's just this is sort of "Official Emulato…14 found this helpful
I had a blast playing Gaiares and I think you probably will too! Now, before I give you my summary why I think you should play Gaiares, allow me to address a couple of questions about this port. 1. This game comes with a few basic extra's game manual: Japanese and English, Starting and end cut scenes, video and audio options (limited to master volume, screen mode-Fullscreen, Windowed etc, Rendering scale, Monitor in full screen mode, and three options for the video filter: bilinear, autoip, sabir). There is the option to listen to the games soundtrack but that is a DLC purchase (which I did purchase as well). The last extra that this port offers is save slots (9 in total) and an auto rewind feature which I found incredibly useful when learning how to get past difficult sections of the game, particularly when taking on each level's boss and learning their attack patterns to beat them. Someone here on the Steam forums asked is there a cheat code available and while I do not know the answer to that unfortunately, I can say that I believe that it's not necessary for the following reason: The game comes with 9 save states allowing you to save your game at any point, and an auto rew…5 found this helpful
Unbelievably bad and this goes for all 4 games in the collection. Another developer that cares precisely zero about preservation and just tortures us to enjoy the releases. NO screen size options, only integer, so you have to have FOUR black bars. NO crt filter of any kind, just a hideous blur filter. But the most egregious of all, they have encrypted each and every rom into multi part edat files to prevent us using the games in say RA on the very same machine. Shame on this developer, to release such barebones carp. I am tired of it. It is NOT hard to add a basic CRT filter and screen size options, as well as provide the roms when all you are doing is using mednafen anyway (beetle pc engine core in RA). Unacceptable. They did one thing right, they have full control remapping natively. For that they get 2 out of 5 stars rather than 1. This review applies to all the four commerical games that you can buy for this launcher. Oh and BTW, Vsync is forced ON, so even THAT, you have to force it OFF in your GPU panel if you want to use something like lossless scaling to get arounf the size issue. Then you need something like reshade or shaderglass for a CRT, the latter can add up to 2…4 found this helpful
Got this for Gaiares! one my personal all time favs. 35 years ago, i could finish the entire game in one sitting; on a single start. today, i realize just how crusty & flabby my skills & reflexes have gotten...i need to workout for this.2 found this helpful
I finished all 4 games. They’re all solid 8/10. I highly recommend it if you like 16 bit 90s games. The included scans of the manuals were a nice bonus. It would have been nice if there were cheat options. I hope we get more 90s console games on Steam.1 found this helpful
