The 7th Guest Remake

Just completed opening and dining room, and took a sneak peak at credits. They kept The Fat Man's iconic 7th Guest tracks and they sound fantastic. Also, actually enjoying the new take on puzzles. Struck huge childhood nostalgia chords. Will definitely find time to play all the way through soon and [i]take the time to find out what's inside...[/i]

Absolutely spectacular retelling of the original chilling horror story. If you are a fan of the original, you will enjoy the remake. There are a few changes to the original script, some all-new puzzles, and a LOT to uncover in the remake. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the original, even though Robert Hirschboek will always be Henry Stauf to me. The new look of Stauf and the guests that I've come to know through playthroughs was jarring at first, but over time it became charming and enjoyable.

Cool little game. A bit expensive considering its only 4 hours long, but the cutscenes with real actors then polygonized are so well done and endearing, the puzzles are all unique and mostly clear and telegraphed, and the atmosphere is great. maybe get on a small sale.

For $20 I gotta say no to this one. The puzzles were very simple and this game focuses almost entirely on presentation over substance. One big annoyance was how the game just throws hints at you as you work through the puzzles, basically giving away the answer 10 seconds in. As if the puzzles arent easy enough, you got a little voice in your ear spoiling it for you. Then by the 4 hour mark you're essentially done with the game & the end 'final boss fight' is literally a simple board game (based on luck) where the computer cheats. By then you get permanently locked out of the main house so you cannot collect missing collectables. Funny enough I was thinking of giving this a soft-yes until the annoying part at the end.

I was really excited to play this even though i hadn't played the original. It looked really fun and seemed intricate but after the first few rooms it became clear that the game wanted to hold your hand and any exploration outside of the "Dora the explorer" style guidance became quite frustrating quite fast. I spent almost 7 hours in this game. I think three hours were spent playing the actual game. one hour or so on the final fight, and almost three hours were spent getting frustrated and wandering around because i couldn't see things in the dark or because i wasn't suppose to be there yet. I appreciate the work the actors put in but some of the newspaper clippings looked AI generated which felt disappointing. Overall It was really short for a 20$ game and felt almost infantilizing with the hand holding style of gameplay.

I've played 80 minutes of this game so far (I never played the original), but this game is AWESOME. I LOVE this game so far. This game runs absolutely sweet too (I get constant 240 frames/sec -- the most my monitor will even do at 4K). I'll update this review when I finish it (bc I am DEF going to finish this, so this review WILL be updated -- check back in like a month or maybe less). My take so far: It's a the best puzzle-box-cinematic experience you'll probably ever see. The way the ghosts look in 4K is pretty sweet. I didn't expect them to look that good. They didn't a really decent job on them. They look just like holograms at Disney world. And the voice acting to go along with them is also top-notch (all characters are voiced).
