About Alfred Hitchcock - Vertigo

✦ AI summary

Unravel the mystery of a car crash that may never have happened the way you remember it, navigating fragmented timelines and unreliable perspectives to expose the truth buried in Ed Miller's fractured mind. This psychological thriller channels Hitchcock's obsessive dread as you investigate through three characters' conflicting accounts, blending puzzle-solving with a narrative deeply rooted in manipulation and madness.

Ed Miller, a writer, came out unscathed from his car crash down into Brody Canyon, California.
Even though no one was found inside the car wreckage, Ed insists that he was traveling with his wife and daughter. Traumatized by the event, he begins to suffer from severe vertigo. As he starts therapy, he will try to uncover what really happened on that tragic day.

Prepare yourself for a most disturbing investigation inside the human mind: truth is sometimes worse than madness.

Features:
  • An original story about obsession, manipulation and madness, inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece Vertigo.
  • Live a powerful narrative experience paying tribute to the visual and storytelling techniques of the thriller genre.
  • Investigate through the vision of three characters: everyone has a different story to tell.
  • Explore several timelines to cross-check the events and separate reality from deceptive memories.
  • Developed by the award-winning adventure game studio Pendulo Studios.

This game was a huge surprise to me! I loved the story! I loved the graphics, vibes and details and this game got me really hooked! I already played a lot of games of this genre and yes, to be fair, your choices don't really matter, but if you like games of this kind I'm sure you'll like this one too! You should really give it a try. In my opinion it's worth the full price and I can highly recommend playing it!

I know nothing about the Alfred Hitchcock story that this game seems to have drawn inspiration from, so any positive or negative feelings towards this game, do not apply to the original story. Vertigo is a story about a man, named Ed, who wakes up at the edge of a cliff with his destroyed car laying at the bottom. Ed believes his wife and child were in the car, and have now perished. He blames himself due to being the one driving and is overcome with guilt. He then sees a man on a bridge ready to throw himself to his death. He runs up to him, and realises that the man on the bridge is actually his father, his dad jumps off the cliff and that's where the story starts. We flash to Ed being in his house and learn that he has been bed-ridden since the accident and cannot move and is in therapy. At first, Ed is rude, standoffish and egotistical. Gradually however we realise that there's a lot more to Ed than what is shown on the surface. This is how most of the story is portrayed, through therapy sessions and working inside of his mind. After the first session we come to realise that he has a shield up, and that years of mental torture has made him become stuck as a child in a man's b…

The story is really amazing and got me hooked for 12 hours straight - The characters movement was a little bit meh but overall I liked the game very much

An otherwise great game that gets a bit bogged down in spots. The whole swashbuckling "Aye, aye, Captain!" thing went on forever and was absolute torture.
