Overall impression: D+. There are some clever parts to this game. The story starts off strong, and the combat presents itself as interesting and different. The further you progress, the more things start to unravel. The story goes off the rails, and there is very, if any, explanation as to how your choices impact some events. The games never seems to be able to settle on what it wants to be, and the story suffers from having too many disparate threads and themes involved. The pacing of the story is uneven too, with the middle section dragging on for far, far too long. The further you go, the weaknesses in the combat system start to overcome its strengths and encounters get repetitive. Take this as you will. It appears AI was used extensively to create the art of the game. I am not holding that against the game too much, but some polishing of the rough spots would have been nice.

This is one of those games I picked up after it released with borderline no info or reviews on it, just because it looked interesting to me. I only got to playing it just recently. In this case, I can say it was very worth it. Honestly, this game was amazing to me. Combat is simple, but effective. Gave me flashbacks to early experimental Nintendo DS games I played as a child way back. The art direction was enjoyable, if sometimes random and clashing. But honestly, considering how wacky the game can get, that sort of fit in a way I didn't expect, but found myself appreciating. The story, while having some wacky and strange bits too it, was also a very enjoyable time. I enjoyed the serious overarching plot, with the occasional wacky and strange comedy moments or oddities not throwing me off at all. I kept finding myself surprised how often I went "Wow that just happened, wtf?" and only found myself more drawn in. The game can feel a bit jank in some design aspects. The clashing art, odd story beats, strange assets and design choices, but I honestly loved all of it. This is easily one of the strangest games I’ve ever played, and I definitely wouldn’t say I “recommend” it, or that it’s “good”. But I did enjoy the experience - it’s pure, concentrated creative chaos. The writing is filled with tropes and juvenile humor, the visuals are so disjointed they look like AI slop, all of the music and sounds are taken from the Unity asset store and have no personality to them, there are countless jRPGish plot twists and characters talking about meaning of life, karma, or the nature of good and evil... ...But at the same time, all of this feels just sarcastic, random, insincere, silly. At points it’s as if you’re playing a Tim & Eric Visual Novel, and I don’t believe it’s unintentional, but rather that it’s metamodern beyond classification, both trying to connect with the player emotionally, and being afraid to do so without giving a random “NPC” with weed on its hat or literal Internet memes inserted into the cutscenes. It’s a fever dream of storytelling, a constant chain of “and then” bits that try to not burst into pieces as they do their best to establish some grand narrative filled with build ups and payoffs. I cannot believe this game doesn't have more traction - if you like visual novels, choice based gameplay, RPGs, some horror/lovecraftian/scifi elements, personality quizzes, this game has it all. Highly recommend, can't wait to do another playthrough and see how different it is.
