About The Cooking Class

Come Cook With Us

Welcome to the Dupont Family. A nice, quiet household in the Nova Scotia, Canada. Let's learn together how to cook delicious meals for you and your family. Because remember, can't live with an empty belly!
Find the VHS scattered around the house through a random system of placement in order to find the code to escape the house.
The first of a scheduled trilogy of games involving the Dupont Family, The Cooking Class is an homage to VHS found footage horror, 80's and 90's slasher movies, and the story of a family and its legacy and connections.
A first person atmospheric game, where the players will have to find their way out.

There are many hidden subplots and side stories that will be revealed through alternate channels and game sequels. There is an alive, vibrant world behind The Cooking Class, with a featured Youtube Channel, an Instagram page and much more to come.

I wanted to like this game, but it is so poorly made that playing it was painful. - No real options to speak of. The only Options you do get are mislabeled. - No Saving, so if you Exit, you lose all progress. Since the game is full of bugs that force you to Alt-F4, this means that any time something happens, you have to start all over again. Why you would bother, I do not know. - Terrible text with misspellings and bad grammar, subtitle text that is huge, but moves too fast for the player to even read properly. - The NPC dialogue is terrible and literally doesn't matter, so it's little wonder why there's a buttom to skip it. - Bad camera that bobs and leans unnaturally - great for giving the player motion sickness. - The control scheme is limited and yet still manages to feel unresponsive a lot of the time. - Sound design is poor. Incorrect sound effects for things, and no ambience to speak of. - The actual titular Cooking Class is just a shallow fetch quest in which the Devs couldn't be bothered to even program the character cooking anything. - The only time there is voice over, it's too quiet and the never helpful subtitles don't even appear, so you can't tell what's being said.…

Clunky and unresponsive. No clear feedback or indication whether or not the buttons you're pressing are actually doing anything. No real game settings or options, and no option to exit the game until after you make it past the "intro" area. Subtitles take up half the screen. Examining items by clicking and dragging with the LMB is chaotic at best, but mostly feels broken for trying to actually discern anything useful from examining something. English localization is abysmal: While the game claims to have full English audio, count on the conversations being exclusively in subtitles with no spoken audio. The game recommends headphones for a superior experience, but the stereo effects make no directional sense. I have only regrets.

I regret buying this AI slop.

This game... sucks. It was like an even worse story than the "B-Rated" horror movies from the 80's. "Cooking" isn't even really relevant to the story at all. It makes you wonder why the entire cooking part in the start is even a part of the game. The atmosphere is nice... they did a good job building the house... but they should've built a story on top of that too. Keep your money when it comes to this game.

Went into settings, changed a thing and was then shown the start screen with no option to continue the current game? Refunded.
