The Copper Canyon Shoot Out

[h1]Played On: [b]HTC Vive[/b][/h1] The Copper Canyon Shoot Out is yet another wave-based shooter for virtual reality. This time, however, instead of sending hordes of zombies and monsters your way, the game takes place in the wild west and sends hordes of robot cowboys to gun you down instead. There are three levels, with the first being unlocked by default and the following two being unlocked once you beat their predecessors. There's some replayability as well, thanks to the scoring and timing systems. There are three major problems with this release, all which contribute to a very underwhelming and frankly frustrating experience. First and foremost is the awful, clunky teleportation system that you have to use to move around. On the HTC Vive, you have to click the trackpad and move your thumb to rotate your in-game self; or move your head in the direction that you want to end up facing. Whichever way you do it, you never end up facing the way that you really wanted to since any slight movement of your thumb will screw up the facing direction of your teleport. It's really disorienting for a mechanic that's so necessary, since this game expects you to move around the map so that…

Awesome game so far, harkens back to the days of playing Time Crises in the arcades. Visuals are great, everything fits together nicely and it's got that lovely hand crafted feel to the levels, not just a flat environment. There's plenty of nooks and crannies to grab a breather if you're overwhelmed, and then plan out the best way to approach the enemies. Controls are pretty intuitive, nice and simple. Had a couple of issues with reloading but shaking the gun seems to fix that for me. The feedback to the player is great too, feels good to just mow down an enemy and get all those bolts and points flying at you. It's definitely got a decent amount of challenge to it as well, with an option for sitting play if you get a bad back like me. There's not a large variety in the types of enemy you encounter, but there's enough challenge to keep it pretty fresh and interesting. Overall it's a lovely game to be able to pick up and play, replay to beat your score, or even if you're just in the mood to blast some robots and de-stress. Got the game for free but i'll definitely be buying it for some friends who're interested!

First of all, I played this on a Valve Index, with the Index controllers. I personally do not mind the fact it's 'another wave shooter', considering I didn't really notice how many there were until [i] after [/i] I had played this and read some other reviews. I was curious about the game, bought it since it looked good, but I really should've done the demo first. This is not a game I'm going to play again, unless it's updated to fix some issues. What issues are these? 1. The locomotion option. This is the most frustrating and the biggest issue I had, right off the bat from the tutorial. First of all, it's a form of teleport, and more specifically, the one where, as you rotate the stick it changes your front location. Robo-Recall style, as I know it. The problem with this, is that one an Index controller, the controls are trying to be merged with that of a Vive, and this doesn't work well for the controls. Any time I try to teleport, it's finicky, and doesn't like to actually teleport when I tell it to, and it resulted in my first two deaths. Summery at the end if you don't feel like listening to my thoughts... Okay first of all... this game rocks. It's a fun western style, steampunk, wave based shootout with robots. If one of those words doesn't convince you to try this game ( assuming you own a compatible headset ) then you're probably as lifeless as the robots I turned to scrap in this game. This first person shooter is, as I said above, a wave based shooting gallery, taking place in a western town dominated by no-good ROBOTS! And it's your job to... well... DESTROY THEM! It's that simple. Your guns are on your waist, you point said guns... then you shoot. Movement is done via a teleportation system (Point and click using the touch pad) that slows down time for a brief moment when used, adding even more to the shoot em up feel I assume the developers were going for. This game is very simplistic but has a lot of charm. For instance when a robot has a hat on, you can shoot the hat off! This is such a fun tale on an overused plot now in vr ... shoot pesky robots as you go through this wave shooter western style ... i highly recommend you add this to your collection today fun for all this is a great pick up n play title
