The Dark Stone from Mebara is somewhat unique as it has a Lovecraftian feel to this RPG game. You basically play as a detective who finds a rock, then there's a cult that constantly goes after you. The plot is decent, but the turned-based battle and gameplay is where it falls short. Some of the artworks and even character profile style clashes (i.e Webley looks like the photo of a real person was used, while our MC looks like a 3D character designed). It's also hard spotting objects that can be interacted, with the 16-bit graphics and I feel there could be an easier way to indicate when we can click an object, such as it being highlighted when we're near it. Another issue with the graphics is there's a map where it's so dark, and where what looks like walk-able passageways are not. It's obscure as heck. Also healing items doesn't appear to be a thing, so you're mostly relying on the enemies dropping items in combat otherwise you're effed. I remember one point in the game where I spent almost 30 minutes grinding just to defeat a boss. The combat itself is by no means easy, nor fair for new players of the RPG turned-based fights.
