About Call of Cthulhu®

✦ AI summary

Investigate a family's mysterious death on a cursed island as a 1920s private detective, uncovering cosmic horrors and cultist conspiracies while your sanity crumbles with each terrifying discovery. Your choices and mental state dynamically shape how you perceive reality and interact with a world where nothing can be trusted, delivering a uniquely unsettling horror experience rooted in Lovecraft's mythos.

Call of Cthulhu, the official videogame inspired by Chaosium's classic pen and paper RPG, brings you deep into a world of creeping madness and shrouded Old Gods within Lovecraft's iconic universe.
1924. Private Investigator Pierce is sent to look into the tragic death of the Hawkins family on the isolated Darkwater Island. Soon enough, Pierce is pulled into a terrifying world of conspiracies, cultists, and cosmic horrors.
Nothing is as it seems. Sanity is an irregular bedfellow, all too often replaced by whisperings in the dark. Strange creatures, weird science, and sinister cults dominate the Cthulhu Mythos, intent on realizing their mad schemes to bring about the end of everything.
Your mind will suffer - between sanity and psychosis, your senses will be disrupted until you question the reality of everything around you. Trust no one. Slinking shadows hide lurking figures… and all the while, the Great Dreamer prepares for his awakening.

all edward pierce does is have panic attacks and pass out and the only thing you can do is watch - really good concept & visuals (always have a weak spot for tentacle-based cults); voice acting is decent, too (anthony howell has quite the talent for panting and grunting and gasping) - definitely delivered in the horror aspect (that shambler will GET you bro) - story is kind of half-baked? Felt a bit rushed through the whole thing and didn't get much time to connect with the characters (which is what i'm looking for when it comes to adventure games lol). also for a game with 'cthulhu' in the title, he is surprisingly absent! - 75% cutscenes. made me feel a bit helpless when trying to participate in the narrative - there's also frequent captioning mistakes? In both grammar and vocab/dialogue changes. tl;dr: 6.5/10 would play again, but just so i can save algernon

A short story based game, inspired by the story with the same name, I recommend for people that love Lovecraftian things and this game is good value for the time it can take.

I feel like I played multiple flavours of horror game in one plus plenty of puzzles, a little confusing at points with limited indicators of where to go next but otherwise was super fun, a good mix of tense and calm investigation !!

This game is unique, bizzare and utterly terrifying!
