Curse of the Old Gods

Free point-and-click adventure. Graphics are nothing to write home about, intentionally pixelated and blurry to create an old-school look, but they're different than the usual. I think there would have been a lot of pixel hunting without the convenient hotspot indicator. Briefcase combination lock was very unfair and I would not have gotten it without the guide. The rest was decent. A bit aggravating at the end as it's easy to not have the required item for the optimal ending.

Free lovecraftian point and click game, somewhat similar in presentiation to the old 80:s macventures games (Shadowgate, Uninvited, Deja Vu) with a fairly accurate representation to how digitized graphics looked in games from the late 80:s and early 90:s. Fairly short with three endings (even if two are basically the same bad ending, just two ways to get there) and the UI is cumbersome. The graphics also makes it so that it's sometimes impossible to know what you are looking at, and without the hightlight button for interactive spots, then theis would probably have been barely playable. It's enjoyable enough that I think I will pick up the recent sequel. Had it not been free, I would only recomend to people with a high jank tolerance level. Beeing free, you can play and decide for yourself if you want to stick with it.

Curse of the Old Gods is a short point and click mystery adventure that feels like it was made as a love letter to old detective games. I play as FBI Agent Moreton after a nightwatchman is brutally killed at a museum in New York. What starts as a fairly normal investigation quickly turns into something much stranger involving ancient cults, strange artefacts and the Old Gods. I like that the game does not take long to get into the main mystery because there is always something suspicious going on in the background. The investigation is the main reason I enjoyed it. I have to explore different locations, examine objects, talk to people and work out how the different clues fit together. There are also puzzles that make me pay attention to the things I find rather than simply clicking through every conversation. I like this style of adventure because I am given enough information to make progress without the game turning into a huge complicated RPG. It is mostly about looking carefully and thinking about what I have already discovered. The Lovecraftian setting works well too. An excellent brief free adventure game. Has a reasonably entertaining plot and most of the puzzles are not obtuse.

Nice littel old school point & click advanture. Quite short and be warned: the graphic style may be not for everyone. I liked it though.
