Previous chapter, "Necrom", was a spark of hope they might actually be willing to keep ESO alive for many more years. This chapter, "Gold Road", hyped sooo muuuch as the great "10-years ESO aniversary oh so great an special best chapter ever" is extremely 'meh' and disappointing. Zone is mediocre - not only VERY small compared to it's size on map, but also needlessly chopped into several art styles (vineyards + jungle + scorched magical land + steppes) that are even smaller and simply do not fit together and have that "this is ugly and out of place" feeling each time you go from one style to the other. Writing is bad. Most quests, including main story, are bland, repetitive, uninteresting, 1:1 copying parts of the stories from previous areas, and feel like all of this was written by underpaid intern during 30 min lunch break. The new "Scribing" thing is disappointing. It feels kind of like a new re-used skill line available for all classes. If this is what they cook for 10th anniversary of the game, what they are so proud of, what they built so much hype about... Then I afraid the game might be simply shutting down in next couple years... :(10 found this helpful
West Weald is a pretty nice-looking zone; it's fun to explore, it has a pleasant atmosphere, it has some decent new world bosses and world events (Mirrormoor incursions stand out and look unique), and it has some decent side content. Also, Skingrad's a well-designed city and a good player hub. But everything else is very disappointing: from a main story that fizzles out towards the end and a weak conclusion to the story started in Necrom, to the underuse of the new Daedric Prince Ithelia to the underbaked Scribing system. Plus, Gold Road didn't include the 2 newly released companions like previous chapters did, and you need to pay for a month of ESO+ if you want to unlock them. I don't really see the point of buying this expansion, as now it is offered 'free' through ESO+, and the Scribing system is free to all players.4 found this helpful
Who knew you could do so much permanent damage to lore of a franchise with one character. Fortunately, Ithellia is simply a hallucination, she's not real and people should avoid this dlc and necrom anyways because it is a waste of time.2 found this helpful
I have been playing it now for 3 yrs after I bought it 6 yrs ago. First 3 yrs getting around was ever nuts but once i got my bearing it made sense. Nice game I love the lore and How they have added lot DLC that actually just makes the game fun. I like when they add more maps.1 found this helpful
