You see the term "rug pull" used for this game a lot. It's a fitting description, and it's unfortunate. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is an extremely faithful remake of the original Oblivion. Functionally, it's an Unreal Engine frontend wrapped around the original game. Yet unlike the original release, earlier entries in the series, or even later Bethesda titles, this version offers no official mod support. The developers never released modding tools, never addressed the game's severe performance issues, and, from the outside looking in, never seemed to meaningfully support the game after launch. It makes you wonder what happened behind the scenes. Did Virtuos really simply decide to abandon one of the most successful releases of 2025? This game just instant crashes. I was trying to pick it up again after a break. Bummer. I'll update if i can get it working someday.
Excellent recreation and update of the original. comes with all the same bugs and crashes! Looks amazing. plays like the original. lots of modding community for quality of life improvements. Brings me back to 2009.
It keeps crashing.
roughly 15-20 fps on high graphics roughly 30-40 fps on medium graphics roughly 40-50 fps on low graphics but regardless of graphics settings, whenever im inside a place like a dungeon or a house I had 50-60 fps. outside in the open world, stuttered like crazy as well, so sad. thanks todd.
