About The Exile Princes
The Exile Princes is a story focused, procedural RPG designed for short playthroughs in which you as a knight gather companions and fighters to bring your house to victory throughout the unique fantasy setting of the Exile Realms. Starting out in service to the current lords of the land, you can gain power and influence and ultimately through strength or guile ensure your faction's place at the helm of every city in the realms.
The game's design is old-school, with a text readout core to the interface and simple tile-based maps, decision screens, and battle stat interfaces available. The interface graphics are lovingly produced based on actual medieval artwork, and show a lively medieval world for you to discover.

Features
- Explore: procedurally generated worlds and cities offer a varied experience with every playthrough. Forest altars, dungeons, fortified manors, ruined chapels, bandit camps, stone circles and more may be encountered on your travels.
- Wonder: at a fantasy imaginarium from across the medieval world with a world of blemmyes, grotesques, cockatrices and wood sprites as well as creatures specifically named and adapted from medieval artwork for this game.
- Lead: a simple turn-based combat system with an exhaustion mechanic gives quick but tactically interesting combat choices.
- Rule: become leader of a city through election or conquest and hold court to deliver justice and develop your lands.
- A living world: as the player travels, the city-states of the realms will squabble, hold events, make raids and declare wars, changing the world around you in a dynamic way.
- Choose your house: four different factions allow you to vary your playstyle between the heroic Phoenixes, the exploration driven Scholars, the militaristic Generals, and the wealthy Wyrms. Each faction comes with unique military units and bonuses.
- Choose your difficulty: five difficulty settings let you vary your play between the relaxed exploratory style of the easy "John Mandeville" mode, through the classic "Moriaen" RPG experience, to the ultra-tough "Silence" mode for those who want a tougher roguelike-style experience.
- Events: join tournaments and feasts to boost your prestige and gain skills.
- Companionship: with a range of generated characters: six companion classes and varied character traits give a wide range of potential characters with stories, quests, interests, and opinions on the world. Nameable pets provide further possibilities for building a found family of companions and allies.
- Romance: party members may enter romances with you and with one another, unlocking unique interactions to further the romance throughout the game.
- Soundtrack: a unique set of 12 tavern songs gives a folkloric depth to the Exile Realms setting.

This game is well worth anyone's time, and despite the immense effort put in, the developer released it for free to show his passion to the most people possible. Check it out, worse case scenario you spent your time on something that didn't connect, best case you got a great experience for free.
A deeply charming dive into Medieval history, animated by a fevered imagination in which dragons, knights, and mysterious pangolins battle for supremacy. Search the forests well and be rewarded. Build an army while managing precarious resources. Always beware the whims of cruel fate.
Would even pay a few bucks for it. More equippables would be nice and a greater variation of units/enemies. Anyway enjoying it a lot. Same goes for the music.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this up but the basic gameplay loop is very reminiscent of Mount & Blade or Pirates!. The controls and interface are unusual but very simple to pick up, just make sure you complete the tutorial first. It covers pretty much everything you need to know and isn't very long. It's got a surprisingly catchy soundtrack. I find myself stopping by taverns just to pay the bard to sing (since the one in my party is apparently stingy). If you like the games mentioned above or the idea of a medieval sandbox appeals to you, give it a shot. It's hard to beat free.
This is a fantastic game that I've really enjoyed. It's sort of Mount & Blade, but more text-based, and with delightfully silly fantasy creatures from real medieval marginalia. Every bit of it is joyful; even choosing your starting House, each with such fun abilities as 'can summon chickens' and 'starts with Pangolin Knights' is a blast. Though it's procedurally generated, it FEELS story-rich as you get attached to your NPCs and their personalities, the pets you raise, and start feuds with the nobility. You can run for election, rather than taking everywhere by force, if you choose! It's just so rich with options and different play-styles and I'm delighted to have played it. It's certainly worth much more than the £0 it is priced at.
Really enjoying this RPG. More difficult than it appears, but with many solutions to quests and goals, you'll rarely feel stuck. The UI isn't great however and some text is difficult to read, but overall it's a great little free game.
