"The Fall of Eskaria" is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This one is a puzzle/brawler hybrid where you control a badly drawn "King" dude (at least it's not pixel "art") and use the awkward and badly managed controls to do rush attacks and wave your sword aimlessly at enemies to determine the developer doesn't know how to do hitboxes properly. And so we continue to enjoy the bottom end of the Steam store. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The artwork here is terrible, it's a hodge-podge of amateurish "My First Wacom Tablet" style drawings used instead professional looking game assets. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget to arrange someone who can create graphical assets properly, or lack of talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low, enough on its own to deter gamers. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to …

Игра 'The Fall of Eskaria' оказалась приятным сюрпризом. Это не революционный проект, но крепко сбитая RPG с интересным сюжетом и достаточно глубокой боевой системой. Мир Эскарии, хоть и не поражает воображение, полон тайн и харизматичных персонажей, с которыми действительно хочется взаимодействовать. Боевая система, основанная на тактических решениях и правильном использовании умений, заставляет планировать каждый ход, особенно на высоких уровнях сложности. Прокачка персонажа дает ощутимую разницу, и приятно экспериментировать с разными билдами. Конечно, в игре есть и недостатки. Графика не блещет современной детализацией, а некоторые квесты кажутся однообразными. Но в целом, атмосфера и захватывающая история с лихвой компенсируют эти недочеты. Рекомендую всем любителям классических RPG, которые ищут что-то новое, но в знакомом сеттинге. Игра затягивает на долгие часы и оставляет приятное послевкусие.
