Beautiful art, overall good gameplay. A couple small bugs, but generally a great experience.
**Recommended | 9/10** *The Palace on the Hill* is such a beautiful game. The hand-painted art style looks amazing, and the soundtrack really hit me in a nostalgic way, even though I was hearing it for the first time. It somehow reminded me of going to the village as a kid, and that made the whole experience feel extra special. My only real complaint is that it felt too short. I wanted more places to explore, and the love story felt a little incomplete. The world is so charming that I honestly did not want it to end. I even come back every 2–3 months just to check if there is any new content. Overall, it is a lovely little game and definitely worth playing.
I loved this game. Firstly, the art is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The style and color choices both come together and make the game very visually appealing. I'll be vague in favor of avoiding spoilers in this part. The way the paintings all came together was so satisfying to see, and the way the last painting is made was fun to play through. The mechanics are simple and repetitive outside of the tasks you are assigned (which further the main storyline). Imo the repetition is not a bad thing, especially considering the length of the game (around 7 hours), but it can be made more interesting by adding some dialogue for the characters to flesh them out. I was intrigued by character backstories, and would have loved to get to know them more. Additionally, I wish we got some detail and small glimpses into the future through maybe a post credit scene or something just so it doesn't feel like there are any loose ends. Overall though, this game was a touching and lovely experience!
too good for a first indie, amazing ending, loved it!! a solid 9/10 game request the devs to make a part2
I completed The Palace on the Hill from beginning to end, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. What stood out most to me were the art, the gameplay, and the story. ART The first thing that caught my attention was the art style. The hand painted visuals give the game a warm and unique look that immediately sets it apart from many other indie games. Every area feels carefully crafted, from the village itself to the palace ruins. The art does not just look beautiful. It helps create the atmosphere of the game and brings the setting to life. GAMEPLAY The gameplay is relaxing while still giving you meaningful goals to work toward. You spend your time farming, gathering resources, helping villagers, cooking, exploring, and creating artwork. What I appreciated most is that everything serves a purpose. Vir dreams of attending art school, and many of the activities you do help support that goal. Money matters in this game, so earning and saving it feels important rather than feeling like a meaningless grind. Whether you are selling crops, completing tasks, or finding ways to improve your situation, there is always a sense of progress. The gameplay loop is simple, rewardin…
The game is sooo good and a fun to play... I was so curious that I finished it in less than a day, hahaha. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a change of pace with a relaxing story game. Thanks to the developers, I really enjoyed it.
