About The Vanguard Expanse 4065
A Note from the Developer: I have spent 9 years building The Vanguard Expanse 4065. My goal was to create a game that respects your intelligence, offers a genuine challenge, and absolutely refuses to hold your hand. This is a difficult, complex, but incredibly rewarding incremental strategy RPG. There is no linear path and no "right" way to win. Play however you want, adapt to the universe, and forge your own empire. Good luck, Commander. — JD
SURVIVE. ADAPT. CONQUER.
The year is 4065. Earth is a memory. As the commander of The Vanguard, you are the architect of humanity's survival in a hostile, procedurally evolving universe. The Vanguard Expanse 4065 is a text-based incremental strategy RPG that fuses deep 4X empire building with infinite procedural progression. This isn't just a game about watching numbers go up; it's about adapting to a galaxy that fights back and changes every time you blink.PLAY HOWEVER YOU WANT Are you a ruthless warlord? A cunning political mastermind? A shadow-market smuggler, or an industrial tycoon? The choice is entirely up to you. Build your empire your way.A UNIVERSE GENERATED FOR YOU No two command tenures are alike. You must survive random stellar phenomena and dynamic galactic events. Will you divert power to your shields to survive a corrosive Acid Storm, or risk your hull to salvage a Derelict Ghost Ship drifting through the void?KEY FEATURES:
- INFINITE INDUSTRIAL SCALING: Start with a single mining drone and expand into a multi-planetary industrial complex. Research 10,000+ procedural tech levels. Automate the extraction of 20+ resources, from simple Metal to exotic Neutronium and Dark Matter. Build massive Dyson Spheres to harness the power of stars.
- TACTICAL FLEET COMMAND: You are in the captain's chair. Assemble a fleet of Corvettes, Destroyers, and massive Titans. Engage in active battles. Fight against the Iron Legion, Space Pirates, and the encroaching horror of The Consumption.
- EVOLUTION & CYBERNETICS: Morality is a luxury you cannot afford. Harvest Biomass from alien kills to mutate your population with Hive Minds. Construct a Cyborg Foundry to build Infiltrator Units for high-risk Black Ops missions involving assassination and sabotage.
- POLITICS & THE BLACK MARKET: Join the Galactic Parliament. Use Influence to pass galaxy-wide laws—vote for Martial Law to boost your fleet damage, or Free Trade to supercharge your economy. If politics fail, visit the Shadow Exchange to smuggle illegal goods and bribe rival factions.
- LOGISTICS & HAULING: Manage a complex Logistics Network. Sign contracts for Short Hauls or high-stakes Sector Warps. Risk it all on Smuggler Runs—illegal cargo pays 50x more, but attracts the deadliest pirates in the sector.
- A LIVING ECONOMY & INFINITE LOOT: Hunt bosses to find flagship modules with randomized affixes (e.g., "Overclocked Hyper-Railgun of the Vampire"). Trade over 1,000 unique procedurally generated commodities like Quantum Silk and Void Spices in a dynamic market simulation.
- THE OMEGA POINT: When you have conquered this reality, trigger the Ascension. Reset the universe with Prestige mechanics, earning Cosmic Essence to unlock game-breaking permanent upgrades and push further into the unknown in your next life.

Firstly, the game is pretty cool. It's got all kinds of stuff all over the place where you can do a dozen different things at a time. Unfortunately, the game feels like it's somewhere between alpha and beta, and while it's fun, it is very much not a smooth ride. If you are intrigued by the screenshots, I recommend you go to itch and play the 'demo.' There has been some clear progress between the demo and this version, and some of the things that don't make much sense in the demo were clearly meant only for a later version of the game. Still, some very basic things are not present or are broken. Clicks don't always register. There are almost no quantity modifiers making an auto-click macro almost necessary to play the game. The dark matter that is the currency for the black market takes a dozen seconds of auto-clicking on the planet, then selling the goods and trading for bulk amounts of illicit currency. Those are a tiny, tiny fraction of the things that aren't perfect, and the game is still fun. It's worth the price, certainly, but I hope it gets better.9 found this helpful
Fun for those who like this type of game, have patience and enjoy figuring out mechanics. UI is a bit of a headache but Im sure it will clean up a bit. Sometimes buttons dont accept clicks. Needs more info boxes on some things. Overall a pretty fun game though. Worth the price IMO. EMPIRE is the main screen btw, just so you know, its not really obvious.1 found this helpful
This is a pretty cool idler, I like what it's going for and my only complaints so far are the UI and purchase options. I think there should be a UI scale option to make things smaller or bigger, I like having my text slightly bigger than what's in the game, but it's manageable. And the purchase options are super needed, having my only options be 1, 10, or ALL instead of purchasing an amount I can enter or like 1, 10 (shift-click), 100 (ctrl-click), etc. Some other stuff they should add could be stock buy/sell order staff members where you hire them to buy/sell stocks so you can make more money while idling and resource breakdowns where you can see your material +/- per second, as well as the usage and gain of it. I also think explanations of upgrades, traits, and a lot of aspects of the game would help players grasp concepts of the game. Like staff traits, colonies (you can really only tell what each does by purchasing them), how each resource can be obtained (e.g. dark matter which started generating for me but I don't know how). and really a lot of aspects of the game. The game also has some technical issues, I bought an upgrade with dark matter that gives me 50 RP a second (r…1 found this helpful
at best a medicore idler...but with to much stuff to do and no direction. Nothing feels rewarding, many things are simply not neccessary and the ui is a real mess. Nothing I would recommend, not even for 2 euros.1 found this helpful
